Welcome! Best thing is to get a diagnosis from your family doctor or a dermatologist - as GirlieGirl says you may have a form of dermatitis (there are several variants). Also stop using any hand washes that contain sulphate surfactants or traditional alkaline soaps. Use a hand cream containing lanolin and/ or urea because these are proven to help replenish the skin barrier. |

you might be allergic to something that you are coming in contact with in the summer. Here are some home remedies I recommede that one can use for curing peeling skin.
1)Grated cucumber applied over the affected areas for 15-20 minutes. Regular application prevents dryness of the skin.
2)Applying the juice of fresh mint every night on affected areas of the skin can help prevent dryness.
3)Honey, olive oil and a mixture of turmeric and sandalwood paste are very effective in rejuvenating dry, parched skin. |

Hello Friends.....
Peeling of the skin is sometimes caused due to deficiency in Vitamin A, Iron, Iodine or Vitamin B. While proteins and Vitamin C, prevent infections and accelerate healing. Replenish the skin with these basic essentials by including them as part of the regular diet.
Thanks |

Hi all,
I am Tony Smith, a new member to this forum. I want to say that too much vitamin a can cause skin to slough off and cause raw areas. In case though most hatchlings go through a peeling stage when they are growing.Iit seemed like my little one peeled alot for the first few months. upping the humidity in the enclosure will help keep the skin hydrated and shed easier. what is the current humidity at your torts level in the enclosure? Oh and never try to assist the skin peeling just let it do its natural thing.
Thanks in advance,
Tony |

Fish oil!!!! The essential fatty acids help the skin stick together. Most people do not get enough from a dietary point of view (or supplementation). Make sure the fish oil is a clean form from a reputable company and store - ie 1000 fish oil capsules for $30 will not do. Get the proper stuff. |
