I have short stubby eyelashes so I am always looking for mascara that gives me volume and length. I decide to try Mavala vl, waterproof mascara.
You have to do 2 coats to get the full effect. I like the look of it on my lashes but alas it makes my eyes water and sting so I cannot wear it.
The swollen red eyes look was not really what I was aiming for. Back to the drawing board. |

Have you ever tried Benefits Bad Gal in waterproof, my eyes are really sensitive and I can use this one with no issues! They have a new one called They Are Real, but I have not tried it yet! |

I have not tried that. Thank you for the recommendation I will look out for it.
My eyes are super sensitive.
When I was about 14 I used to borrow my mums beautiful sparkly blue eyeshadow.By the end of the night my eyes were like little slits but I loved the way that shadow looked. LOL.
Hopefully I have more sense now. |

You are my new best buddy, I have the worst when it comes to sensitivity of my eyes! If I use face products with artificial fragrance my eyes object in a major way! |

I have used the "They are Real", it definitely lives up to its name, but I find by the end of the night I can't wait to remove it, its harder to get off than normal mascara, somewhere in between normal and waterproof! For that reason alone I would not repurchase, too rough on my lashes.
I also do not like rubber applicators, this is one of those, I find they clump more than the "normal" ones (for lack of its real term). I'd rather build mascara then have to "de-clump" and this dries super fast, hard to work with IMO. |

Thanks for that heads up, I love the huge Teddy Bear brush in the Bad Gal one!
I would love to get away without waterproof, but my eyes just tear too easily now! |

Another believe it or not is L'oreal lash out. It really lengthens but does not add volume if you need that as well. You can layer this over and over and it rarely clumps. |

I think I am the Queen of super sensitive eyes esp. when it comes to mascara! I am sooo bummed, my old standby Clinique Naturally Glossy mascara is now irritating my eyes and I'm back to the drawing board too!
I didn't realize waterproof was better for sensitive eyes, I sure can't use anything for lenghtening or volume because of the fibers but it's not easy to find one that basically just tints your lashes. |

I really could be wrong here, but I don't think lash out has any fibers in it at all. The newer products do but they also state they do.
eta: almay has some really decent ones too for sensitive eyes, have you tried those? |

Lamas does have a product that can be worn both day and while sleeping that darkens the lashes, it is like a very light textured mascara and treatment in one!

Yes I've tried Almay and Lamas lash masque and neither of them worked for me.
So far I've tried Jane Iredale, Physicians Formula, Ecco Bella, Lavera and Becca The Ultimate Mascara. The Becca is a tube mascara and more gentle than most, but still bothers my eyes. I would highly recommend it though, it's a beautiful mascara that made my lashes look full long & curled.
Thanks Tiny & DM for the suggestions. |

Same situation here (although sensitive eyes) I can't use any of the tube mascaras and taking them off is always a nightmare for me the tubes break up and land in my eyes! |

You'll all probably think I'm crazy because it is so expensive, but this Chantecaille mascara is beautiful. It is meant to be one of those eyelash growing products and mascara in one. It really does make your lashes longer. And, it makes it look like you have had your lashes tinted. It's really worth the price. I've never tried those eyelash growth products but this stuff is natural so I feel like it's safe.
Also, as an FYI Nordstrom is having it's buy two mascaras get one free event on May 26. You can buy three and get the least expensive one free. It might be a good way to try out some mascara you've been thinking of trying.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/chantecaille-faux-cils-longest-lash-mascara/3207260?origin=category&fashionColor=&resultback=403
Chantecaille's Longest Lash Mascara fuses the newest lash-growth peptide technology with the original, sought-after Faux Cils formula. Lashes get a boost with Chantecaille's unique SymPeptide 17™, stimulating keratin genes and encouraging the strength and length of your natural lashes—without irritation or discoloration.
After two weeks' use, in-vivo clinical tests reveal longer and thicker lashes by 25 percent. These extraordinary results are achieved by simply applying the mascara to eyelashes daily.
Similar to the original Faux Cils formula, Longest Lash Mascara creates immediate volume with a special combination of natural waxes to thicken and plump lashes. Chantecaille's signature Rosewater is added for a luxurious and healing experience. The formula features the non-clumping, double-helix brush to comb and feather lashes for clump-free volume. |

This sounds like the perfect product for when you want lashes to show (mine are non-existent w/o mascara) but don't want full makeup. Some days I do a minimal makeup and don't want "full" mascara! |
