Hi everyone,

I am considering using clay in a daily face wash but am a little hesitant as I read that clay shouldn't be used on the face on a daily basis.
What are your thoughts on this?

I am mainly using the clay to thicken up the liquid castile soap and it works a treat.

Thank you in advance!

Kindest regards,
Mel

Welcome to this forum, Fingerfood Smile I personally don't use bar soap on my face, but a foaming gel with aloe vera. All that I can tell you that every 2 weeks, I use a clay masque with eucalyptus on my face. Though it is good for my skin as it removes impurities on my skin, I find using clay masque "kinda" dry my skin so I don't use it everyday.... After the clay masque, I use pure Moroccan Argan oil to hydrate my skin after the mask. Not necessarily the answer what you are looking for, but this is my thoughts on "clay" ingredients.....

yes, that's what I'm worried about. That it's too drying if used on a daily basis.

I'm thinking of giving xantham gum a try instead.

I use rhassoul clay as a cleanser most days - nothing mixed in just the clay and water. It forms a great, super gentle scrub. Sometimes I let it dry a bit, other times I just rinse it right off.

I am not sure what type of clay you are thinking of - some are moisturizing and some can be drying.

The reason people recommend not using clay every single day is because certain varieties can be drying. But if you are mixing it with castile soap and it isn't drying your skin out, obviously you don't have to worry about this. If I tried to use clay thickened soap on my face, I would dry out faster than you could snap. Shock

My skin has always been super dry - even as a child. THere is something about rhassoul clay that really hydrates my skin. Cleansers felt stripping, this leaves my skin soft and plump.
Green clay... on the other hand.. would also dry me out even further. I can't say enough great things about rhassoul clay

White clay is not harsh and can be used every day. I don't like Xantham gum, it is GMO.
