I was reading a blog post from a dermatologist and she mentioned this in passing:

Retinol is also very helpful for both fighting and preventing milia. Again, retinol should not be applied to the upper eyelids.

Anyone ever hear of that? I'm not sure what her reasoning is. Is it because of the danger of getting it into your eye? If Retin-A thickens the skin, perhaps that's not wanted on your eyelids or upper eyelids?

I actually recently started applying Retin-A to some areas of my face I had previously never applied it to: eyelids, upper eyelid area, and ear lobes. Those area are subject to drooping/wrinkling/aging so I thought why not apply it there as well? Is that not a good idea?

My plastic surgeon said top apply it EVERWHERE (but not TOO much), just make sure you do not introduce it to the actual eye - the lids are OK but apply with care.

I haven`t had any problems with these directions after 15 years.
