Hi
I am looking for a cream that may help with my under eyes. I have alot of crepiness underneath each eye and bad crows feet. The crows feet diredtly in the corners of my outer eye dont bother me too much but the lines that are forming further down around my eyes and crepiness are really upsetting me. I have a voucher to use for EDS and wondered if anyone could suggest something i could put the voucher towards.
At present my routine is very simple... cleanse tone mositurise. I sue retin a 0.25% at night and an DIY vitamin C serum in the morning.
I would be most grateful for any help
Many thanks

Are you not using sunscreen? Which form of vitamin C?
You may be surprised how effective attacking all angles of skin hydration is - nutrition, super gentle cleansing (non foaming), moisturiser containing the lipids found in a healthy skin barrier (as mentioned on your other thread, lanolin is amazing). Many people find Retin-A and L-ascorbic acid drying and irritating especially on the delicate eye area, so you might choose a non-acid form of vitamin C and drop back to retinol just for this area. Since you have a voucher Devita make some lovely products

Hi Firefox
This is the vitamin c serum i make. i was directed to this site after enquiring on EDS http://careprost-eyelash-growth-serum.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/skin-care-journey-part-3-vit-c-l.html
Formula needs to be between 10% & 20% to be effective
1. Dissolve 1gram of L-ascorbic acid in 5 ml of water (preferably distilled), in small glass container using a stirrer. Make sure it is fully dissolved before proceeding to next step.
2. Add 5 ml of glycerin and mix.
3. Put in a sealed jar, (not clear glass as this allows light in, and light degrades vitamin C.) Store in cool dry place. |

That is a lovely beginners recipe. IIRC ascorbic acid serums need to be pH ~3 for optimum penetration which is pretty acidic bearing in mind skin is ~pH ~5.5. The scale is logarithmic so 4.5 is ten times more acidic than 5.5 and 3.5 is one hundred (10 x 10) more acidic than 5.5! Personally I would never use such acids on the eye area. L-AA is very unstable so I guess you are having to re-make a couple of times a week? |

I would switch at least for your eye area, especially since you say in another thread you have noticed your lines worsening since adding in the L-AA. Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate doesn't need an acidic pH, the cheapest way will be to DIY. Even if you opt for a simpler recipe, it gives links to research on MAP and explains about the pH. http://www.skincaretalk.com/a/map-serum-10 |

Hello....sometimes just a nice moisturizing eye cream is enough to vanish some lines and crows feet. Perhaps Firefox is right and you should leave out the vitamin C around the eyes. I know that for myself a C serum is very irritating and makes my face very dry. I have super dry/sensitive skin and overnight I sometimes use, especially during the winter months, vitamin E oil from a capsule. It works very well and is one of the more inexpensive products. The skin doesn't absorb the oil, but it hydrates the top layer of the skin and I find that it does relieve a lot of dryness. |

I've posted about Lise Watier Bio Lift Eye Patch on the reviews forum. I know it's not available on EDS, but in all the products I've used so far in the eye area, it's the one that had the most smoothing action. |

I use Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Eye Cream. It helps with my wrinkles and keeps it moisturised. It also cools and refreshed my skin which helps with my dark circles as well. I agree sometimes a vitamin C serum can cause my skin to be dry. I have very sensitive skin as well so I go through a lit of different products to find something that will not cause irritation. |
