A gentle leave on sort of product appropriate for a first time user of AHA. (As well as appropriate for sensitive skin. ) I don't mean a peel. I'm thinking along the lines of a toner or lotion or something? I've been searching for something LA based for months but all of the AHA products I've seen contain Glycolic Acid, not Lactic Acid. So does anyone know of any ready made products that are Lactic Acid based?
TIA if anyone knows of any. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

You can semi-DIY a lotion if you have a favourite moisturiser that is neutral/ basic (not crammed with actives that won't like the change of pH).

Toner is equally easy - water, 88% LA plus a preservative. Stickiness at higher concentrations may be because LA is a humectant - honey, aloe, glycerin can all be sticky for the same reason. |

Thank you so much everyone. Russiansunshine, that product looks really good! Do you use it yourself?
VeronicaM, I've heard of Amlactin as well! Isn't it only for body use though and not face? |

I do think AmLactin is a body lotion (I agree that it is a nice one).
I'll also vouch for the Skin Biology Lactic Power 10 - very nice, AND moisturizing to boot.
Another product to consider which isn't either glycolic acid or lactic acid is a polyhydroxy acid. I believe Exuviance or NeoStrata have a PHA in them. |

Thank you Foxe! Does anyone know if 10% Lactic acid/AHA is too much to start with? I've never used an AHA and that seems quite high for really sensitive skin.. I suppose I could dilute it half and half with another lotion/cream? |

If you're referring to the Lactic Power 10, I feel it's a fairly gentle AHA. It doesn't have too much of the lactic acid in it(they can go up to 15%) And, the pH is fairly moderate at 3.2 pH. When you go lower than that, the strength of the acid goes up. So, an acid that has a pH around 2.0 would be a LOT stronger than one w/ a pH around 3.2-3.5. The pH can't go higher than around 3.5, though, or the acid loses its strength. |
