Just wondering if anyone has tried this and what they think of it. It seems like a combination of sea kelp bioferment and algae extract or seamollient. (I know it's not seamollient, I'm just saying what it seems like a combination of.) Any thoughts?
It's this: http://www.skinactives.com/Sea-Kelp-Ultramarine.html |

Hey EG,
I did try it. Maybe I don't know how to use it, but for me it doesn't work as anything else but a mask, because it leaves a thin film on my skin, that starts peeling when dry.
I don't think I have been diligent enough using it when I first got it, but I would put it on after the SA pumpkin enzyme peel or after extractions, and my redness would go away faster. I am considering buying it again when I place my next order with SA. I think it works great as a base for their actives if you plan on making masks. I would add green tea in it and leave it on over night or just until it dried.
Hope this helps! |

Hi EG, I use it added into my conditioner. I've read that some people like to use it as a mask but I haven't tried that yet. Sorry I couldn't be more help. |

I've tried it and it is very tacky! Also, if you add it to a cream, it makes a cream tacky too. |

Thank you so much everyone! RS, I suppose it wouldn't work in a spritz then if it's tacky! I'm having such a tough time finding some algae extract! It does sound nice for a face mask though like fitgineer said. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

They do have a cream with the same actives. Perhaps that would work better? |

EG, Most of SkinActives serums and creams have some of Ultra Marine Kelp in them and they are not too expensive. I've been using their Collagen serum, CHAS serum, AntiAging cream & I bright. I'm also using their Vitamin C serum but don't know if it is in that one. Some people love their Formulation kit for beginners. I haven't tried that as I was looking for a product with the most actives for antiaging and they recommended the collagen & AntiAging cream. I've since added the other stuff and am happy with the products so far. If you use too much serum, it can be tacky so they say to use a tiny amount. |

Thank you bullet875 and Debb3485. I'm actually more on the lookout for an algae extract I can use in a DIY spritz I'm making. Glad to know the SA products are nice though! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I LOVE the ORIGINAL sea kelp bio ferment, and was very disappointed in the ultramarine. It is way too heavy to use as a leave in conditioner for hair and almost has a greasy feel. Even when diluted it still leaves a sticky residue as a spritz. I like lots of SA products, but not this one. |

EG This might help:
Astaxanthin is commercially produced from the freshwater algae, Haematococcus pluvialis. However, natural astaxanthin may also be produced from the pink yeast Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous, from the yeast Phaffia rhodozyma or it can be extracted from the by-products of crustacean such as the Antarctic krill. The commercial aquaculture industry use synthetically produced astaxanthin in fish farms.

I can't use these, they are too sticky, never seem to really penetrate, and ball up! That said, I think I am in the minority, rather than majority here
opps: I was talking the skincare products, seems everyones talking hair! |

I can't use them straight as a leave in either, you can mix a bit with a leave in conditioner or your deep conditioner to be rinsed out! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I use it with my wash out conditioner. I have fine hair and all of the leave in conditioners are just too heavy on my hair and weigh it down. |

Thank you everyone! DM, I'm not looking for a red algae/astaxanthin extract in particular, just an algae extract to add to my spritz! I don't think this sea kelp ultramarine is the ticket as it sounds tacky and thick. ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |
