of Grey... So I caved and I finally read it to see what all the fuss was about... all the ladies in my office (and everywhere in the world) were obsessing about this book, so I borrowed it (plus the two others that followed it) and barely managed to get through the first one....(but I did... )
It just made me wish that I thought of the idea to write a sort of Twilight for adults - featuring the brooding hot guy who is no good for the clumsy, mouse-y but beautiful heroine...and then on every third page threw in some sex, bondage, etc...! Ha!
The author has got to be laughing all the way to the bank.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing more trilogies of mommy p--n in the near future.
Anyone else read it? Or want to admit they read it?

Loops - I can't believe you haven't heard of it! I believe the author is from your lovely country... it's quite steamy and I must admit the hubby benefited from it a tad! He didn't complain!
It does get repetitious...she says the same things over and over again...and every time they're about to...ummm...ya know, he always seems to magically produce "a foil packet" that he slaps on. That actually brought the hotness level down a bit for me...I was all "yes, yes, I get it..you're all about safe s e x now just get ON with it!"... hee hee.
I went through this phase many years ago where I was totally into historical romance - the real naughty ones that took about 10 pages to detail one interlude - but I rather enjoyed them! Except if I was reading them on the train I always tried to hide the cover of them!
I think if you get through the first one, you'll know at the end if you want to read the next two...

I'm with Mariav on this one, love a good historical romance (empathise on romance). This is not one of those!
I have read all 3, the second two are better than the first, less sex and a hint of a plot, oh my!
I read them before I knew about the fuss, I read just about everything on the best seller list under fiction and am a voracious reader.
Yes, the author is def laughing all the way to the bank and no, have not learned ANY new tricks.
The foil packet thing does get old & so does running his hands thru his hair, pouting and creeper stalker tendencies. So as male fantasy figures go, not cutting it. Give me a hot Scotsman like Jamie from the Outlander/ Voyager Diane Galbadon series and I am good to go. Plus I learn something!
I have met a few Christian Grey's in my life and the old adage of reformed rakes is a load of bull. Not enough therapy for my comfort to fix that guy(and I say that as a retired therapist). You don't cure S & M tendencies by a snap of the finger and you surely don't by letting him indulge in spanking now and then as a reward. Huh? She is a shade weird herself! |

OMG I love Galbadon!!! and I love to read, but if I am not going to learn any new tricks, I'll go back to historical fiction, they are some of the best! |

Unfortunately (at my age), Christian is about the age of my son so he reminds me too much of some of his friends.
The pouting and sulking stuff (we can them man periods) I see firsthand when we go on vacations with the groups of them. Just had that experience Memorial Weekend at the beach. We girls decided next time, we will consult the calenders first so that they all aren't on them at the same time! Gets old and they talk about women, GEEESSHHH!
Anyway, saw a girl reading it yesterday at a counter when I went to check out. I thought she prob should keep it hidden myself! |

I know many women love this trilogy ... What I say here is my opinion only and I know I am in the (female) minority.. So please noone take offense. I do not tend to like what many do.
I bought the book because of intense encouragement from friends (lol), only to find (for me) it is predictable and sophomoric.. I did make it most of the way through the first book - with hopes it would improve from a perspective of writing (sorry didn't see that) and I wanted to glimmer the reason it was a bestseller. For the record - I have never liked soap operas, the Bachelorette or romance novels - well - nothing is for everyone.
I have one good friend who told me this has done wonders for her love life... maybe that's what it's all about. |

I totally understand you! I was encouraged by my neighbor to get this trilolgy. The 1st book was disappointing for me, but no doubt that sharing the story with my husband, got us talking and doing more fun loving! LOL |

What do you think of the scene in Book #3 where Ana spoke to Gia when Christian walked away?
I don't want to say too much just in case someone hasn't read Book #3.
Do you know what part I am talking about? |

Don't buy that badly written drivel. Read anything by Anais Nin instead. Erotic but beautifully written, often based on her own debauched life. |
