I'm sorry I know there's loads of threads where people are requesting sunscreens and I'm adding to the clutter but oh well I want advice.
I can't stand matte and chalky looking sunscreens, but I love dewy ones that glisten and glow.
I'm going to be using retinol so I'd like some recommendations of sunscreens that have good protection without being... you know chalky, I don't mind if they are slightly white looking as long as they are not matte. |

Are you saying you want a sunscreen containing mica or one that is very hydrating? Devita Rx Ultrasolar 50 (19% zinc, 8% titanium) is high protection and leaves a slight sheen. The Devita Body Block is most often recommended as a dewy sunscreen but is 'only' 19% micronised zinc (SPF 30+). Neither are whitening at all. Would be worth reading the reviews section - Devita, Pratima and Ocean are probably the most frequently recommended physical sunscreens on skincare forums. |

Thanks for the suggestions FireFox.
I was very interested in Devita until I read that someone had experienced skin darkening whilst using it in the sun, which would question the degree of protection but then again no sunscreen will fully protect you.
When I have time I'll check the review threads out thanks. |

I use Retin-A at night, and in the morning I alternate between two sunscreens - one is chalky & matte and the other is BurnOut’s Kids SPF 30+ Physical Sunscreen. The BurnOut sunscreen is exactly as you described, it leaves my skin dewy.
I found out about BurnOut sunscreens when I did a search on physical sunscreens on the forum. I like that it’s hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and fragrance-free, it was the perfect sunscreen for my skin when I first started using Retin-A. |

From Shiseido, Neutrogena, Australian lizard, la roche posay, skinceuticals, and on and on.
I personally love Clarins HD UV Plus SPF 40. It is a mineral sunscreen and has a sheer whitish cast but you won't look like you are wearing a mask. It just makes your skin look a bit brighter and lucent. I do not need to wear foundation if I do not want to. You can get a sample tube from Sephora or the Clarins counter. I like the fact that it is not a chemical sunscreen but feels liquidy like an Asian sunscreen. Your skin will look luminous with it and not matte at all. |
