Hello
I'm not sure what these are, perhaps they have a name. I have always been very 'flat' under my chin but I now am showing what looks like tendons. I do do facial exercises, but I'm not sure anything reaches there. (I do LouLous holding the skin and also Flex Effect lying with my head off the edge and raising (though I've not progressed to weights for fear of my slipped disc!)) Can anyone suggest anything please? Thank you. |

I have heard that botox works really well for these tendons/cords in the neck.... |

Ah, thank you. But unfortunately I tried botox once on my 11's and I had a 'scare', shortness of breath and swallowing issues. It was frightening and I am concerned I am sensitive to it.
Have you heard of an exercise that might help? |

Puddlelover is this a relatively new issue, before or after you first started doing facial exercise? As I understand it the muscles are overactive/ tight or the tendons shortening, if that is the case you would need to relax/ stretch the area. |

Thats a good question and a good point - I think it was there before but not as noticeable, as it was always very flat under there it could be that it is overly tight (I sit with my head almost too upright, tilted back slightly, like I'm looking down my nose - the disc I have trouble with makes it more comfortable to sit like that) so perhaps stretching is what it needs. I would never have thought of that. Aren't forums great? Thank you. I wonder if I tried one of those massage rollers when I have my head off the sofa if that would help? - or can you think of another way to stretch that area?
Thanks again |

I wonder if your facial exercise technique or exercise selection is partly to blame. With the body a very subtle shift in posture can totally shift the emphasis of an exercise from one muscle group to another. It may be you already had a dominant muscle as you suggest, and/ or you combining programmes thus overworking particular muscle groups.
Given that you have a prolapsed disc I strongly recommend you discuss stretching or amending your routine with one of the Flex Effect instructors that post here on EDS, or better still a physical therapist who knows the exact location of the prolapse. Presumably you ran your facial exercise plans past them anyway? If so they may be able to give you a telephone or e-mail consultation on stretching safely. Massaging the neck is not a good idea unless you know what you are doing, there are too may key nerves and major blood vessels close to the surface. |

Hi there,
Please make sure you get personal assistance regarding your FE workout on the workshop. You can post cropped pics and such for personal attn.
Given you have a disc issue do not add any weights.
Are you only doing one neck exercise? There are 10 in our book.
I can't address your ageless work, as I don't study her stuff. |
