I am very excited about finding this forum and looking forward to making my own cosmetics. However, there must be a lot of things I need to know before starting - which ingredients to use, what concentrations, what can be mixed together and what shouldn't, shelf lives, etc. I'm sure this forum has all this information, but the topics are HUGE:)
Is there some place that I could to go to read up a summary of useful info? Or may be there are some guides or books to read? (and yes, i've seen the index page)

Hi marinav and welcome!
First, what do you want to make? A simple vitamin C serum is easy. A hand cream is useful.
Second, do you want to use an all natural approach, or doesnt matter?
Third, the ingredients suppliers themselves are a wealth of information about getting started and give you the specs on ingreds and how to use them. Here are some of my favorite sources:
