Hi, I just thought I would share this Youtube, please listen ALL! It does last about an hour, in minute 16 more or less there are the images of what animals suffer for our plates and after there is a few important concepts about what we really need to be healthy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzvK5uLu7F0&feature=fvwrel
I eat a bit of everything nowadays, but when I was between 19 to 22 I was vegan after visiting a cow slaughter which really hit me ( I actually felt sick every time I was offered a bit of meat after that!). Years passed, new job, odd hours,... hungry, well OK I'll grab a "ham and cheese sandwich", such a common and usual snack after all, etc, etc... After listening and reminding me of what I saw I think I made a mistake in going back to eating meat after a few years.
I was trying to post this in a previous post about whether paleo, vegan, etc, was better for US the "humans"... but can't find it right now.
I insist you must, if interested, listen to ALL.
And I'm just posting for knowledge, ... not intending to get into arguments about nutrition, just "food for thought". |

In minute 01'03 more or less there is images about milk giving cows... Very sad how they are treated nowadays. Nothing to do with the milk bottle served of fresh milk from free cows just as much as forty years ago... What's happening to our relation to animals? Us? |

Read this ages ago and while not a vegan I only but (real) free range animal products! It is enough to make one quite disgusted with the food "industry"!

I think it is an entirely different Linda Blair you will see on Amazon! That is odd she would come to mind had I not read the book, that movie was filmed about 10-15 minutes from where I grew up! It spelled out the horrors that animals endure for profit in vivid detail actually more disturbing than watching that movie! |

Well, just written a long post that has got lost in space after pressing the wrong button..
Anyhow, even many years ago my Grandad was shocked -he was the Chemist in town- when he went to deliver some antibiotics to a hen farm and he saw the hens in individual small cages... he was shocked!!! We take so many things for granted like eggs being a natural product when they may come from hens caged in for years as long as they lay eggs... and then...
I love eggs! This is a difficult matter... or you "like/love" your "food" or you "think" about what is best for other beings, not only "you". The difficult part is how to get the message across to make a difference! |

I agree and as bad as the cages are having read that hens in large "Farm Factories" are having their beaks cut off and a feeding tube inserted for their entire miserable existence is just one stomach turning example in that book that really makes one think and think hard about ethical options in what to purchase and from whom!
Sorry about that long post gone missing, I know it is a nightmare when that happens! |

Sorry, I meant to buy but not right now the book of Linda Blair, but don't understand your post "Horrors that animals endure for profit in vivid detail actually more disturbing than watching that movie!" Do you mean in the book there is more shocking images?
I honestly feel a bit ridicoulus "asking" for even "more shocking" images????? |

Please it is not you honestly the mental images of the real horrors described in the book and knowing these are factual are far worse to me than any special effects that Hollywood can produce, it is knowing how very real one is (animals suffering for profit) and how artificial the other is made for the screen.
I hope that clarifies what I am trying to get across, the reality of how animals are treated is truly horrifying. |

Not at all, Moon. I had to close my eyes in some of the video scenes, which are a few minutes, but basically it is a conference/lecture, just the speaker talking and stating facts. In fact he adds a touch of sarcastic humour every now and then. I am no fanatic myself of any special way of eating -paleo, vegetarian, vegan, raw, macrobiotic, mediterranean..., just learning and searching a lot recently and that is how I came across the conference which is actually of the year 2010...but I do think there is something really wrong about the way animals are treated by humans, and the food industry surrounding them is awesome, and so is the publicity we get drilled into us about what we really need as food!! This is one of the things I've been "learning" in my search that started about my own nutrition and healthy food.
Hugs, Anne. |
