So I just mixed myself a toner containing freshly squeezed lemon juice, rosewater, and witch hazel. Do I have to refrigerate this? And how long do you think this toner would last before expiring?
This is the first time I have made this so I made a small mixture:
1 small lemon (= 4-4 1/2 teaspoons)
3 tablespoons rosewater
1 tablespoon witch hazel
Does anyone have any comments on the measurements? Would it be best to add more rosewater or lemon or less of something? |

If it feels good on your skin and doesn't irritate it, then the measurements are just fine. I usually use glycerin or a glycol in toners, but I the witch hazel is enough for others.
I would definitely refrigerate this. No question. Especially since you used fresh citrus juice.
If you're not comfy with parabens, etc, you could use optiphen plus for this. It's a good lower ph preservative. I use it for all kinds of stuff; serums, anhydrous scrubs, ocm. |
