Why is glycolic acid usually recommended over other acids for its anti-aging propertiies? It's usually even recommended over salicylic and lactic acid.
Is it superior to other acids with regard to anti-aging? |

Glycolic acid has been shown to stimulate collagen production; salicylic is oil-soluble and so recommended to keep pores clear and reduce breakouts.
I would say the superior acid with regard to anti-aging is retinoic acid (aka tretinoin, Retin A). |

Because AHA's work on the uppermost layer of the skin by dissolving the sebum (gluey substance) that holds the dead skin cells in place...
The AHA's used regularly will keep your skin turnover more akin to the 28/30 day cycle of say a 25 to 30 year old.
Out with the old and in with the new... Nothing looks as crappy as dry, ashy, dead skin... |

Is glycolic acid the only acid, which stimulates collagin production? |

also, glycolic is a smaller molecule and penetrates deeper. |

I've used glycolic acids (15-20% strength) at home in the past to exfoliate and for anti-aging properties. I've also tried very stronger acids administered by a registered doctor which I can not do at home.
I've also used salicylic acid for pimples, not really recommend for anti-aging for sure.
I think different people have different requirements... But before going to further drastic steps, please do your own research first (very important)...
