does anyone else find that with using conditioner they lose more hair than if they only shampooed. I always find when I use a conditioner my hair feels so soft, and fine, but also i notice more hair going down the plughole when i rinse. anyone else find this? |

yes, my hair seems to come out when i use my conditioner. Keep it to the ends on wet hair. I massage my scalp before I shampoo, i apply my conditioner to my dry hair and massage my scalp before i shampoo.
i notice abstaining from alcohol keeps my hair in superb health, body and thickness, the only dry effect comes from some coloring over highlighting some years which is growing out nicely. |

Maybe your hair has too much moisture. Try using protein-based conditioners, eggs, or doing a protein treatment.

I have an answer for that - I believe that it is simply that with conditioner, the hair that has already shed, more easily slips out of the surrounding hairs. At least that's my hope, as I do not want to stop using conditioner! |

That is my belief as well...the cuticle becomes smoother with the conditioner, and slides out more easily when rinsing. |

I talked to my hairstylist about this a while ago. For me, she said it just seemed like I was losing a lot of hair, but it was just the normal shed that was happening. This was due to my only brushing and/or combing my hair once a day, and when I use the conditioner, I rake my fingers through my hair like a comb. |

I'm not sure whether this will be helpful to anyone, but perhaps along the same lines as what was mentioned above, my curly hair only ever sheds when I condition.
There's literally no way for it to escape during the day, as it doesn't fall cleanly away like straight hair does. It's all caught up in tight curls.
When shampooing, I normally just reach under & gently massage the scalp, squeeze through the length a bit and then rinse off under the shower.
I only detangle while conditioning, so that's the only time that there's any tugging at all, when I'm gently raking my fingers through it. And that's when I gather a TON!
I'd been concerned at one point and someone explained to me that that was just the normal amount everyone loses on a daily basis (200 hairs, was it?). Its just that for me, the hair is very long and coarse, and shedding all at once, so it just appears to be a shocking amount. Most people don't see all their hair loss at once. Everywhere I've lived I've HAD to make sure there was a really good strainer in the drain, which I've felt obligated to clean out myself, everytime (gag). |

I don't use conditioner very much on my hair.
The only time that I use conditioner after shampooing, is, after I apply natural HENNA on my hair. I do a different way to condition my hair (like oil treatment 2-3 times per week) is more than enough for me. I use almond oil with peppermint, sometimes coconut oil and sometimes AMLA oil.
However, I use a very wide-tooth comb to detangle/comb my hair not a brush. I seldom use a hair dryer on my hair either. The only time I use hair dryer is when I need to go out on a date or special ocassions. On regular days, I just use electric fan to naturally dry my hair.
To complete the look, I also use special hair serum on my hair.
