Supposed to be a favourite of Cleopatra and extensively used by the Chinese, both internally and as external applications.
Apparantly a superior source of calcium, but also many other essential amino acids, trace elements, and age-defying properties.
Anyone with any experiences with this? |

I bought pearl powder cosmetics while in China and have only recently started using them - unfortunately the cream is quite highly scented which is why I didn't use it in the first place. You could buy pearl powder everywhere so I think that it is a common beauty treatment in China.
When I returned home I was shopping at a nearby Asian market and I noticed that I could buy pearl powder cream for about the same price in Canada LOL. I brought jars of it for my gal pals thinking how exotic it is . . . |

I have not used it myself, but I had a friend who put pulverized pearl into her DIY facial powder recipe.
She claimed that it helped her skin greatly in this form. She had very dry skin, and it supposedly kept her from drying out throughout the day. (Don't ask me how she discovered this. If I had dry skin, I wouldn't even bother with a powder. :P) She also mentioned overall improvement, etc.
I would personally think it would have more benefit in a cream or serum, but that's just me speculating. If you can find it somewhere affordable, I'd go ahead and give it a try just for curiosity's sake. I can't imagine it would be harmful unless you had certain seafood allergies or whatnot. |

I tried this mask by MikiMoto Cosmetics called Essence Mask. I bought it in Japan and it was fantastic. My skin can be quite sensitive especially after eating certain foods, but the pearl collagen in this product calms it right down and brightens my skin. Hopefully EDS will look into carrying this product line. It is quite popular in Asia although a little expensive. |
