Hi ladies,
This post is actually inspired by another thread. I'll be 37 soon and I've never felt better in my life. Now that sounds like bragging but let me say that the first, oh, 35 years of my life were spent hating myself & my looks. I spent years in depression & anxiety because I felt ugly & unworthy. I've always struggled with bad skin (and still do, but it's under control) and big, frizzy hair. Point is, rather suddenly I find myself a lot happier with my looks. I think I'm HOT, lol. And I don't know why! Nothing has really changed in my outward appearance. Is this one of those 'older & wiser' things? Anybody else experience this? |

I'm still in denial about how old I am (I'm one of those idiots who thought she was going to be 22 forever...Point and laugh, because I deserve it. <3) But I see what you're saying here. Sexy is all in the mind; how a woman carries herself, how she wears her clothes, general attitude. Plus, you can still have a rockin' hard body at any age. My uncle is almost 70, and he looks like a freakin' model from the neck down. (Lucky bastard. I hope I got some of THOSE genes from grandma.  )
I think most people spend their youth trying to look like a particular celebrity, or their generation's general idea of beauty. They end up disappointed because they feel like they can't achieve it. As time goes on, they better understand the individual things that make THEM attractive. (We all have that handful of traits that EVERY boyfriend has commented on, eh?)
Plus, I have personally always found older individuals to be the most attractive. Male or female. Have you ever seen one of those women with long, gray hair that have never dyed it? Dayum.  |

However, the reality is that at least here in the U.S., our culture worships youth. We cannot deny it.
Our challenge is to accept it.

I agree. If you feel good about yourself, feel sexy (or hot), it shows. Being positive about your outlook in life, no matter how difficult it may be in your current situation, you will pass that stage. If you surrounded by people who cares/loves you, then it is a treasure to have them. As I said in another thread, age is just a number. Life does not stop at any age, whether you are young or old, it is just the beginning. Be happy and grateful for all the blessings...

I am MUCH happier since I've gotten older. (I just turned 42) These forums have helped me a lot.
In addition to a lot of the lifestyle changes I've made, I've also used something called Bach flower essences to help me adjust to being older:

| There are new, and sometimes better, experiences. When I am out shopping, I spontaneously light up when I see infants and toddlers. The fathers and mothers who see me do this, express such love and appreciation for my reaction with their eyes. In its own way, this is a very satisfying interaction. |
