I am one of the unfortunate ones who did have the side effect of darkening eyelids but also my corners being darker. I was not sure if it was the Jan Marini causing the corners to darken. I thought maybe it was hereditary for me. But I had tried the new method many are using which is the straight bimatoprost as eye drops called Lumigan. Applying only to lash line every night. Well they are getting worse again since using this. I'm just wondering if anyone who has used AND stopped using anything with that drug in it had this side effect. AND is there a way to treat it?
I have also tried the Easy Eye Solutions for dark circles but I think I was just working against it when I used the Lumigan along with it. Because it worked very well hiding them in the beginning but now I'm seeing that even that won't help now.
I've stopped using the Lumigan as an eyelash growth product but use it on my eyebrows (seeing if it works like the Latisse is supposed to for brows) so at least I can stop it or at the least not make it worse.
I now have gone to RapidLash which is getting rave reviews at Dermstore and other sites and it does NOT have the drug in it. But unlike the others out there (new Jan Marini and new Revitalash) it IS working to grow lashes. I've used it about 3 weeks and I am most definitely seeing results.
But on to the issue...
Has anyone battled this problem that was directly related to an eyelash product with this drug? And any success with removing the darkness? Is it permanent? |

My eyes were so black underneath from using lumigan that i looked like a panda! it was bad, i had to buy concealer to hide it. Now i dont have this problem at all, it two about two months to clear. So dont worry it will fade.
Regardless of what eyelash enhancer i use i ALWAYS put a thick layer of moisturiser under my eyes first to protect the skin. I dont want panda eyes again. |

Gosh it never faded from my first use of Jan Marini with Lumigan in it. Maybe perm for me.  |

| I've read about skin bleaching soaps? Its my eyelids that really bother me. I think the Easy Eye cream and serum will help underneath but you can't put that on my eye lids. |

| When I used the original Jan Marini product, I got a dark line along my lash line. It looked as though I'd used a reddish-brown eyeliner. It went away when I switched to Revitalash (original). I'm now using straight Lumigan, alternating every other day with Skinactives Lash Serum w/KGF. The "eyeliner" darkening hasn't reappeared. I guess this is one situation where everyone reacts differently... |

Hi Wendy,
My husband is on prescription Lumigan for glaucoma. They told him the side effects were dark pigment around the eyes and longer lashes. He got exactly that, beautiful fan like long lashes and the mask of Zorro. He went onto a different prescription however that didn't keep his eye pressure down well enough so was put back onto lumigan. The specialist told him to not "wipe" the excess off (he puts one drop in each eye per night and it may run out of eye)but instead to just dab the excess off. His pigmentation is much better now that he stopped wiping. If yours was caused by the lumigan it should correct itself back to the normal pigment you had, as his did. |

| So this is pigmentation, not underneath like capillaries with dark circles? Then there has to be a bleaching agent I can use. But something natural and safe. |

Yes it was just a pigmentation problem for my husband and once he stopped wiping it off and just gently dabbing the excess off, his pigment has returned to normal, still has the most incredible lashes though! I don't know anything about bleaching agents but, if you already have Zach's illuminating cream already, I would use that, as it has cumulative effects over time with darkness. I've been using it for 3 weeks now all over the eye (just the cream all over) tuck serum just on puffiness under eye and it's working nicely, so you could just use the cream alone morning and night and see if that helps the darkness. |

I had this side effect, too. I have always battled dark under-eye circles, but soon I noticed that they spread to the very top of the upper cheeks. They were not black, but a reddish-brown. What I did to stop this is to use a thin-tipped eyeliner brush to apply the liquid, and I applied it about an hour before going to bed, to avoid the liquid from spreading onto the upper eyelids. The result was that the redness faded within two weeks, and hasn't been back since; which is great for me, because I was loathe to give it up!
With that said, not everybody has the same results. When I was doing online research, I came across countless posts from people complaining about developing dark circles, and for many of them, those circles still had not faded. :/ A couple developed pigmentation spots on their irises as well. |

| I've been using Latisse for about a year, and I love what it does for my lashes when I use it regularly. I do have some darkening of the skin along the upper lash line, but I haven't been bothered by it. The skin lightened somewhat but not completely when I stopped applying Lattise for any length of time. I use a fine eyeliner brush to apply the Latisse because I feel I can be more accurate than with the applicators supplied. Perhaps that is why I've not had any trouble with undereye or iris darkening. |

| Just for maintenance, I am still using Rapidlash 2x a week now since I got great results from it. I too have noticed just a little bit of darkening on the base of upper/lower eyelids but it did not bother me at all. It makes my eyes pop out more (I think)... |

| I've been using Careprost but I like the darkening of my eyelids. It looks like eyeliner. I don't have any underneath my eyes because I only use it on my upper lashes. They say never to use it on the lower lids. I almost never wear mascara any more. |

I use Rapidlash on the base of upper/lower lashes and did not have any problem....
