I have never been in this forum but maybe someone can help me out.

I damaged my skin by using oil olay scrubbing pads and a face powder 6 years ago. My face went up inflamed and i was given a lot of cortisone which made the situation worse. I have had a lot of inflammation on my face skin to the point that i see myself as a monster. I also have like red small scratches but nothing to the point were i was bleeding, etc...the point is that is going to be 7 years that i have had this and i don't know what else to treat it with. I know that my skin will never be the same but i would like to find something natural to help me out since i don't want to take antibiotics. I have gone to 7 dermatologist they have done biopsy and they say that i have PD but i haven't been able to find anything that helps me. My face feels tight, itchy and i have red small pimples all over my face and rashes. I feel hopeless. Thank you and sorry for the long post. Crying or Very sad

Welcome yol72673 Smile Would you please send a close-up photo of the problem areas so that members can see it? Some people are shy, but if you can post a picture (without showing your face) it is easier to see. Thanks Smile

What is PD?

I can't get over that 7 doctors could not help, but if you were a celebrity, I'm sure there would be a resolution to the problem.

Please let me know what PD is.

I am also wondering about that, but forgot to ask, what is "PD" too? Smile

I wonder if yol72673 is referring to Perioral Dermatitis? hmm In the meantime, welcome to the forum, yol72673. Smile I'm sorry you are going through this. Hopefully some will have suggestions that will make a difference for you.

If Havana is right, here is an overview of PD:
http://www.drbaileyskincare.com/blog/tips-for-treating-perioral-dermatitis/

Since this doctor recommends both antibiotics and anti-fungals, I would suggest using oil of oregano internally and a drop or 2 topically in some tamanu oil. Both are natural, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory.

The only brand of oil of oregano that I will personally use is P73 because it is much stronger than other brands. I use the Super Strength myself, and purchase from iherb.com.

HTH!

Thank you for the replies. I hope i am doing this right. Sorry I meant to say POD which is perioral dermatitis. Usually this is around the mouth corner of the nose. I have it all over forehead, cheeks, etc...at least that is what the result of the biopsy came back as.

I started like 3 weeks ago taking Oregano Oil internally but i haven't put it on my skin, I am scared to do so since everything makes it red, etc....

Yes, if I was a celebrity i am sure my skin would look much better Sad I have gone to even professors at University of Miami.

I will take a picture and post it. My pimples look like mosquito bites and when you touch them they feel like they have a tip but they really don't have anything inside. I am so frustrated!!!

I don't understand why any of those doctors can't help you. If you had that celebrity status, I am so sure this would not be an issue. Something is not right here!

I wish I could help you, but I don't know what to say. I wish the doctors would just do their job.

I feel like they can't help me because maybe there is no hope for me at all and that's why they can't do anything about it. All I know is that i am trying to see if i can find something natural to help me out but of course things that are natural take a long time work. I know that I have permanent damage on my skin but i just want to find something that can help it and also that gives me comfort since it burns, itch, etc.... Crying or Very sad

I know you mentioned that you didn't want to be on antibiotics but it sounds as if antibiotics may be the best route to permanently clearing it up. Perhaps these posts from avalange and syndi222 will be helpful:

avalange wrote:
Sunny1,

I had the EXACT same issue with OCMing with Castor Oil. Allow me to save you months of suffering.

Go straight to the derm (or your primary care physician) and get a script for doxycycline. I had to be on that antibiotic for an entire month before the perioral dermatitis went away. Also, they gave me topical clindamycin, which helped a lot.

Before the derm visit, I also went to a facialist who did extractions, and she perfected my entire face. I was so happy at first. Within one day, however, all of the bumps were back, with a vengeance!!!

Honestly after 7 months of bumps and zits, I finally went to the derm and she prescribed the aggressive round of antibiotics that finally did the trick.

I concur with avalange. I know you mentioned that seeing a dermatologist is not an option, but if you can, do go. I had something similar when I switched up my routine and tried for skin care that was more natural and my skin did not like it at all. I tried taking orally and topically ACV, aloe vera, olive oil (orally for this one), honey, tea tree oil, vitamins and minerals, etc., and bumps, whiteheads, blackheads, cystic acne, and itchiness were all formed in HUGE clusters on my face. It was painful and I let this going on for 9 months or so, thinking that the natural remedies will work its magic. Finally I gave up and went to a derm and after 2 months of antibiotics (along with facials and extractions), my face finally had a chance to clear up.
I know tea tree oil has helped others but this oil dried up my skin so much that after two weeks or so of using it, my skin broke out even more.

It looks as if there might be some helpful ideas to try in here also such as Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE), Manuka Honey, probiotics, adopting a candida/yeast busting diet (plus something like caprylic acid), avoiding products with SLS and fluoride, etc.: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/perioral-dermatitis4.html#ALOEOID_48601

Thank you havana8. I have taken antibiotics i took Oracea for 8 months and used Noritate after i stopped everything came back and then I used doxy 100mg for 15 days and it cleared up but once i stop it returned again. That's why it is so frustrating for me. I will checked the other links to see what i can gather from them. My thing is that i don't want to take antibiotics forever because every time i stop I get the red bumps once again.

If nothing works, I suggest you consult an acupunturist/chinese herbal doctor for PD. What they do is to correct the imbalance in your system, prescribe special herbs in order for your body to heal.

Other things you must do in the meantime:
-don't use cortisone (or other medicated creams) for now,
-make sure not to poke/touch the PD,
-make sure that you properly clean your face with warm water and foaming cleanser suited for your skin type,
-do not use toner (that is alcohol-based),
-no moisturizer or foundation make-up at all (and esp. if they are oil-based),
-clean pillows,
-no sunscreen that is oil-based.

Make an effort to consult/see an acupuncturist/chinese herbal doctor the soonest possible time.
I hope this helps Smile

Thank you Jade. I was thinking of that and I am going to do that for sure. I am basically not putting anything on my face it itches at times and burns as well. I am also taking supplements and also Oregano Oil capsule it has been more or less 3 to 4 weeks. I hate the tightness and burning that i get. I really would like to find something that can help me. I do touch my face a lot.

Although your skin was irritated by the scrubbing pads, your system is out of "balance" right now. Special chinese herbs (and acupuncture) can bring back the "balance". If western doctors can not help you, Chinese herbal therapy will be able to help and prescribe chinese herbs that are "natural" and it will bring back the balance in your Qi. You have nothing to lose but just make an appointment.

p.s. Do not touch your PD as you will irritate it more.

Of course everyone wants perfect skin, who doesn't? Smile I'm positive you will find an alternative "natural" remedy with chinese herbal therapy.... Get your PD problem fix first and then we will worry about your "overly scratched" face as I am sure some EDS members will be able to give you lots of hint to make them look better. Good luck! Smile

Thank you Jade. Yes everyone wants perfect skin but that's something that i have totally given up on. I will never have my skin not even looking close to perfect but that's fine all I want to find is comfort and get my skin as best as it can. I have permanent rashes due to the scratches so that will never go away. I have made an appointment already and hopefully this doctor will be able to help me with natural stuff.

Hello! Im really sorry you are going through this. I have had a similar situation with my skin. I was in bed sleeping when a tornado tore through my house. The house collapsed on me and my children. While digging out my face came in contact with LOTS of insulation. THe insulation went into my face like tons of tiny stickers. A few weeks later the "stickers" started working their way out. It caused me to look horrible. I looked like i had severe acne. THe only thing that helped soothe my sking was Aubrey ORganices cleanser and toner. I still use it now. I thought maybe you could check out the website and read the ingredients and see if it would be something that would be worth a try for you. It is an all natural skincare line. It is really cheap too! The website iswww. aubreyorganics.com I hope you find some relief soon. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful!

Yol, the capsules are not what you should be taking...that really limits the benefit to the intestinal area. You should squeeze one into some olive oil and hold under your tongue to help enter your blood system, OR you can squeeze into a small shot glass of water and drink it. Under your tongue is better, but I personally don't like that so I just throw it back with water.

Thank you Bethany. So I shouldn't take the capsules? Instead intake the oil? But with olive oil?

I stopped taking antibiotics about 2 months ago so for the last 2 days i have been getting red dots on my cheeks and forhead so i applied a medicine that is for acne called Ziana at first i thought it was working but after using it for 2 days at night and morning by the 3rd day i woke up with my cheeks being red but is not completele red but blotchy they are only red where the red marks and lines are at. This is so frustrating. What i have on that cheek is not perioral dermatitis but i really don't know what i have then. My face is blotchy and it has a rash all over my cheek, etc...and it has like red dots which are not pimples at all. I took a picture but you can't see it that good. It alos burns. I don't want to go back to the antibiotics because i don't want to take that forever and also Elidel which is the only cream that takes the rash away but once i stop it all comes back. Why is it that i can't find anything else to help me out with this rash. I want to quit my job and just hide at home. As it is i don't even go out anywhere else. Crying or Very sad

Yol, I found a website that says capsules work as well as drinking it, but if you don't see any results I would consider adding it to water or juice and drinking instead.
