Looks interesting, and I have just sent off an e-mail, hoping that we may sell the device when it becomes available.
Has anyone out there already tried it? |

CM--- I have been DYING to get my hands on one of these ever since I first heard about it from Sephora. Bravo to you for being so on top of things and for trying to get this product for EDS. Please keep us updated--- if EDS is able to sell this product, I will definitely buy from them! |

This product sounds amazing! But how much does this hair removal system cost? It doesnt seem to have a price on their website.
And is the product only suitable for the body? |

I've been wanting to review the No-No since I was pretty sure that I was one of the first people to get one. But I was a little hesitant since it would be my first here on EDS, but here goes.
I bought the No-No in Taipei in May and have been diligently using it ever since. I think I paid about $150 USD for it, but I don't know if the price has gone up since then, or if it's just more expensive in the States. It came with two blades, one for long hair and one for stubble.
I bought it on a whim after spotting it at a mall. I'd never heard of it before, but I'm always eager to try new hair removal devices. (FYI - I'm Asian, but one of the few who actually have hair, other than on my head!). The salesgirl was friendly and quite informative. Apparently, she'd been using the No-No for a while and showed me the arm that she'd been experimenting on. It was pretty much hairless, but then I asked to see her other arm and there was hardly any hair there either! LOL!
So she asked if we wanted to try it. I was a little nervous and I had sunscreen on, so I had my husband try it. He said it felt fine but I could definitely smell a burning smell. I was still interested but I wanted to do a research on the internet before paying that much for something I'd never heard of before.
So I went home, did a little research, and after deciding that it didn't seem like a total scam, headed back to the store. This time though, I tried it on my own arm. The salesgirl held the machine for me so I wasn't in control and I actually ended up getting burnt. I naturally became a little skeptical after that since I had 3-4 horizontal burn marks on my arm. I used aloe vera gel and they scabbed over and healed pretty quickly. My husband thought I was crazy but I still wanted to buy the machine!
Sorry this is dragging on forever, but I don't want to leave out any info. Anyway, I bought the machine and one extra pack of blades for stubble. The salesgirl recommended that I shave a few days before using the No-No so that you can avoid buying the blade for long hair altogether. In Taipei, a 2-pack of blades sells for about $12 USD, so they're not cheap. I think the blades are supposed to last 2-4 weeks each, depending on use. But you can extend its life by switching between blades during each session. I'm currently switching between 4 blades right now, the oldest being the one I started with in May. Of course, it's not as effective as the newest one, but it does still work. So I start each session with the oldest blade and alternate.
So basically, I've been using it on my arms and legs since May. The difference in density is much more noticeable on my legs since the hair is coarser there. But I do feel like it's working.
BUT, there are definite issues with the machine that I hope are addressed:
1. Risk of burning: The worst burn I've received was when the salesgirl used the machine on me, but I've definitely burnt myself a few times since then. They've all healed quickly but still, it shouldn't really happen in the first place.
2. For those who aren't familiar with how the NO-No works, I won't go into the science of it, but basically, a hot wire singes the hair at the surface. There's supposed to some kind of chemical reaction that takes place at the root of the hair. You're not supposed to feel the heat and 99.9% of the time you don't, but you definitely smell the burning. Anyway, with the No-No I purchased in May, after a few weeks of using it, it started to malfunction. It's hard to describe, but here goes.
When you are actually using the machine, you're pressing it down on your skin and the wire housed by the blade makes contact with the hair. With the blade for long hair, all you feel is the No-No rolling over your skin. But with the one for stubble, you feel a sort of scraping as the "blade" goes over your skin. The "blade" actually is actually retracted as you're pushing it along your skin and returns to it's sitting position when you hold it up. Well, the malfunction that occurred was that when I lifted up the No-No, the blade would actually pop up higher than its resting position. And I could see the wire continue to heat up because it would turn red hot. And I would either have to jiggle it a little to make the blade return to its resting position or unplug the No-No from the wall socket. And if I wasn't careful, I would have gotten seriously burned if I put that red hot wire against my skin!
The thing is, even with that malfunction, the No-No still worked, I just had to be really careful when using it. But I exchanged it for another one when I returned to Taipei in June. BUT, unfortunately, the same problem has started with my new one. I'm still using it, but awaiting my next trip to exchange it. There is a one year warranty so I told my husband that I'm going to keep exchanging it (if the problem keeps popping up) until time runs out. From my experience, it's a design flaw so I hope it gets fixed soon. And the US is very strict about product safety, so hopefully the version that they will be selling at Sephora won't have the same issues.
But overall, I honestly do think it works but you have to really use it regularly, like 2-3 times per week. AND be careful when you're using it!
I think one of its claims is that it will reduce "hair density". And it does do that, or at least I feel like it's doing that. I have bald patches on my legs now that weren't there before. But it has NOT made the hair grow out any softer. So after using the No-No, my legs look fine, but if someone were to feel them, they would be able to feel some stubble still. But there is a buffing pad that comes with it, I'm just usually too lazy to use it.
Sheesh, sorry for the novel, and I know I included a lot of non-important info, but I was trying to be thorough! Feel free to ask any questions you may have! |

It is an interesting concept but I would probably wait until I had heard a lot more reviews as Shang has kindly given us an idea of the good and not so good. It is the not so good that would make me hold off. |

I can't help but be skeptical that anything at all is being transmitted from the end of the hair to the root through the hair itself. That's the same principle that's been used to market various "home electrolysis" machines that didn't do what they claimed. |

It sounds like you singe the hair off at skin level instead of shaving it off(hence the burning smell) and you buff(or sand) the rest of the remaining stubble....I'd rather keep shaving etc.
I'm sorry, but i'm really sceptical about this and as for having multiple burns for whatever reason absolutely makes this a "NO-NO" for me |

Thank you so much schang for taking the time to share such a thorough and detailed review... I would agree there needs to be some improvement in the design before I'd bite, so yeah it's a no-no for me too |

Yes, I'd still bite if EDS starts selling it. I don't get alot of body hair myself, but my DH is gaining more on his body as he's losing it on his head. I'm itching to try this on his back. |

the only way to get rid of hair permanently is to kill the hair root, electrolysis will do that BUT where you have killed the root permanently there are still "dormant" follicles that will come back which is why you need continued treatments.Getting rid of hair for good is very difficult, believe me I have tried everything and nothing works so I am back to bleaching/shaving/plucking. |

Lemming alert! Oh I think I want one of these It seems to share similarities with the laser hair removal (in terms of the hair absorbing heat etc) but not as powerful. It's a very interesting concept and I'd be more than willing to give up my Emjoy for one of these thingy-magigs... Any news on EDS stocking it? |

I've been on Accutane treatment for 3 months now. Prior to taking Accutane I would wax pretty much everything (legs, arms, bikini) but you're pretty much not allowed to wax while on the medication cause your skin rips off due to sensitivity. I wanted to try nono as an alternative but after reading the reviews about the burning I'm not so sure. Accutane slows the healing process, especially for me so I was just wondering how bad the burn marks really are and if how often you get them. |

Hi,
Not sure about No No but I have been researching laser hair removal. This gives permanent hair reduction by using a laser to kill the follicle at the base of the hair. Skin is not affected. My sister did it at a salon for her underarms and she was sold.
I bought the Rio Home Laser Hair kit which is a mini version of the salon one. The only hair that cannot use it is afroamerican, grey and albino. I have been trying it and though it will take about 6 mth to zap all through the hair growth cycle, I am prepared to invest the time. So tired of the whole hair removal never ending process. I am not sure what technology No No is based on but under no circumstances should you get a burn from any system!!!! |

Blacklace, your home laser system sounds interesting.
Are you doing your whole legs with it?
Once you have done a session, is the area depilated, i.e. as smooth as if you had used an epilator or wax?
I currently use an epilator, would love salon laser removal for my leg hairs, but a cheaper at-home option would be even better.
I might have a problem with some of my leg hairs as some are light blonde rather than dark blonde (skin is pale). |

I really want to try this but the price is so steep. And after reading Schang's review I'm definitely waiting to see more people put themselves out there as guinea pigs first and review it, I'm too nervous about getting burnt! |

Hi anomaly and chick little,
The home laser you can use anywhere on the body except eyebrows, intimate areas etc legs, bikini area, underarms etc fine.
Blonde hair is ok. My sis did her underarms a a salon with a course of three treatments (cost a bomb but she was sold on it). With the home system once you dedicate the time, a bit at a time, even if the hair growth cycle can be as long as six months you can zap the ones that did not get caught the first time around or pick up regrowth. Hence why they are not allowed to call it permanent hair removal on the tin - just permanent hair reduction (it is the same for all these treatments)
The system does not remove hair in one go like a wax or epilator (geez who could stand that pain??) The hairs drop out in 5 to 7 days.
The unit cost me £89. I have started with underarms and my legs. I got so tired as well of the hair on the upper lip so I am doing that as well. The hair has to be at least 1mm long so you cannot wax etc. You can use deplilatory creams and razors in between to keep things tidy enough.
The unit is fabulous and I am really happy with it. Sure it takes patience but it is a long term solution. I am tired of carting around last minute hair removal products when I travel especially. What a chore. |

Thanks Blacklace, that's really useful.
Wow, it does blonde hair! I wasn't expecting that, thought I'd have to live with those ones. While I'm at it, I would do my bikini, and what the hell, chin and lip though it's soft & downy there, just a big too long. Got a few on my tummy too.
This method just seems like the answer for me! Salon IPL is so expensive.
Do you know if the final results are the same as with salon IPL? Do you end up with totally nude and smooth legs forever? That would be sooo brilliant. I epilate, grinning and bearing the pain (ouch), but the smooth feeling only lasts a few days before they start growing back and causing ingrowns grrr.
Can I ask, how how long does it take you to do your whole legs, lower and upper?
And when the hairs fall out after 5-7 days, do they ALL fall out, or just the ones that are ready? (forgive me, just getting my head round this! ) |
