I have just read this article:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/women_shealth/9453805/Anti-ageing-gadgets-Should-I-try-this-at-home.html
And it looks like CACI is producing an at home device due to be released in October 2012.
Quote from newspaper:
2 CACI Microlift
Launching in October, the Microlift is a home facial toning device from the salon brand CACI, which claims to provide “non-surgical facelifts”. The Microlift uses a tiny electric current to tone facial muscles and, it is claimed, combat signs of ageing. It looks a bit like a small cordless phone with four spiky knobs on top.
Expert’s verdict “CACI or any other micro-current therapies are unlikely to do much harm but it’s hard to know the exact points to press that will stimulate muscles in the correct way to achieve a balanced result. Beauty therapists take a five-day intensive course before they practise CACI in salons.
“CACI is pretty safe but shouldn’t be used if you have had Botox in the past three months, as it could cause migration of the botulinum toxin around the face. You could end up with brow droop.”
Tester’s verdict “CACI salon treatments are well loved and I wanted this to be effective. Maybe it was the instructions, but I felt that I was simply poking my facial muscles with no idea if I was doing it correctly. I was so perplexed, I’m afraid I have new frown lines.”
Time to use for one session 10 minutes. Number of sessions advised: three weekly for four weeks, then two a week.
Cost £350.www.caci-international.co.uk

I didn't know microcurrent shouldn't be used over Botox - mine must be spread all over my face by now. Haven't noticed anything negative though. |

Shouldn't use it for the first two weeks after botox.

Philip, I can see that you are CACI trained, do you think this is something that we can all do and get positive results?
Is placement critical?
Would we get a (visible) muscle contraction, or does this not work in that way?
Thank you! |

I haven't seen the machine in action, but, I am pretty sure this will be a device that any home user can get results from, I think I can get home of a loan machine in September to test, so I will let you know once I have some results.
You don't get muscle contractions as microcurrent is sub-sensory due to the very low current, you shouldn't feel anything at all, if you do, then it isn't microcurrent.

Hi PhotoQueen, It would be great if you could get one of these and test it for results. The thing that is stopping me from getting one of these kind of home machines(Nuface, Caci-home version) is the fixed placement of the rods or balls. I can understand why they do it.(ease of use, dumbed down version for non skin techs) but can you get the same kind of results if you don't have the separate rods. I would think some of the different "hold" positions on the face could not be accomplished with fixed rods/balls and this could make a big difference in results. What are your thoughts or anyone else can chime in? TIA
Also do you think people in the USA will have a problem ordering this Caci machine like they did with ReAura or not because microcurrent machines are already sold in the US? |

PQ: So great of you to weigh in and offer to give a quality home unit a try. We can all use any guidance you have for us..
For those who are in the USA: Here's an option to consider: NCN (from Connecticut) is coming out with a microcurrent machine by years end. Apparently she has been working on perfecting it for months. You may want to wait for the reviews on this. I know I am chomping at the bit to try it. |

That's my thinking too - I think you're better off with a machine with the double probes. At the moment I'm looking into a machine which has the gloves because I think they might be easier to use. |

I have asked CACI if the probes are removable, if they aren't I think the machine is very limited, as basically, you have a Nuface with probes rather than conductive balls!

All very interesting. I'm really all for wands as the placement is better. PQ, do you think you can do a 10 minute mc lift and still get the best results? I'd sure love to shave some time off my treatment.
About doing mc over Botox, I think they are trying to scare people away from it saying "no mc for 3 months post Botox". Sorry that seems like a crock. I work around Botox areas on clients and never once had any issues. I do avoid area completely if it's within two weeks.

You know the Safetox is suppose to help botox last longer and that is some strong current....so I think this is a strange too. |

Christine,
In one word - no, it takes me an hour to do a complete face.
I think the device is very simple so the options are limited, so it woudn't give the same results as a salon machine even though it might a similar wave form and current, mainly due the probes being fixed to the hand unit.
I would do mc over botox after 2 weeks and avoid the area with my probes.

PQ, thanks. I feel sane again. Mine are an hour for mc and a little longer with peels and other upgrades. To really do a high quality treatment I find it takes an hour, especially if the client is over 50. It just takes more holding time. That makes sense, I mean, how easy was it to look good in your 20s versus your 40s and up? Thank goodness for microcurrent and all our gadgets. |

I've send an email to Caci to ask them!
Their reply:
''You are well informed and correct that when using microcurrent the probes should be moveable in order to properly re-educate the facial muscles.
Fixed, static probes are really best for working skin tissue.
Accordingly, I can confirm that our new CACI Microlift personal facial toning system will feature a design mechanism that enables the probes to be either moveable for muscle toning work or fixed for skin tissue applications.''
Sounds like a good one! |

Thanks Yams for asking CACI. This gadget is sounding really good. I can't wait till it's for sale. |
