got the set and at first i enjoyed it, easy to apply my foundation and made it look dewy. but it only looked dewy cause the sponge was wet, i'd feel my face feel tight a while after applying. after a couple weeks i started to get crazy white heads and acne in places where i never get them. i thought it was the products i was using, but i wasnt using anything new. it was the beauty blender sponge. i cleansed it every day with the matching cleanser so i thought it took pretty good care of it but i dont think so. its not anti bacterial and i guess shame on me for thinking a sponge wont breed bacteria and spread it because it got rave reviews. |

I like this sponge alot when I use liquid foundation. Its kind of pain to care for though, since I wash it with antibacterial soap and let it air dry after every use. But I have not had any issues with breakouts from using this and I'm very acne prone. |

I'm considering buying the sponge. Is it suitable for tinted moisturizer as well as for a liquid foundation? |

I hope it's not caused by the sponge cuz I love it! The finishing is not only dewy, but radiant. The foundation can also stay a much longer time!
Did you have breakouts when you wear make up before? I do w/wo the sponge. I concluded it was because I layered too much makeup that cloged my pores. |

You can but uaually tinted moisturizer has lower coverage than a foundation. Using the sponge could lower the coverage again because it absorbs some foundation and blend with some water.
I would not use it myself with tinted because I'm not happy to wash it everyday:p |

Is this the egg-shaped sponge? It was all the rage when it first came out. I have been tempted by liquid foundation recently again, but find the powdered mineral brands so much quicker! |

I tried this a couple of years ago. I didn't experience breakouts, but I just didn't see the point. You can get the same results with a makeup sponge for much cheaper. |

I have the blender as well, but prefer my regular foundation sponge! |

I was so impressed when I first tried the beauty blender sponge. The sponge fits into every corner of my face and it works well with liquid foundation. This blending sponge gives a beautiful finish. |

I have recently purchased one of these and find that it gives a flawless finish to all my liquid make-up. I also use it damp with a tinted moisturiser and this gives a lighter more natural finish if I'm not wanting to wear any heavy make-up. I also use this with my powdered mineral make-up damp to turn it into a semi liquid form and apply it that way for a great finish. Love it. |

Just wanted to add that I wash mine first with some Rose hip oil then with a little baby soap to give it a deep down clean and keep it hygienic |

i like this sponge too! Works well with both conventional liquid foundation and mineral loose powders.Only thing is the washing part. It tears up (very small tears) when i wash and squeeze it dry. |

Couldn't you rinse it and then nuke in in the microwave for a few seconds to kill the bacteria? Would last a lot longer than having to wash it. |

m....I was about to buy this but am not so sure now. Also it says on this page hairnskin.org/?p=10 that you need to use the cleanser both before and after applying your foundation. Is that really necessary? sounds like complete nonsense to me. |

Marketing nonsense. I ordered a knockoff for 3.00. To me the 'beauty blender' is a craze: in that someone found a niche, hit it hard and made millions. It's over - there are things just as good. It's not like it's a patented product (name only maybe). |

Don't nuke it - mine melted after just a few seconds and I was left with a minature pool of pink the size of an eraser head, so sad!
I also tried 3 different no-name brands but they were all too stiff or porous. The Beauty Blender is the only one that gives the flawless finish, which is such as shame as the price is excessive. But it works. |

I love the beauty blender sponge. It really does give a lot of control and blends flawlessly. Although when the sponges begin to give out, they start shedding little pink dusty bits all over the place. That's when you know they are done.
I love the tip about using it to blend powdered mineral makeup. I'm going to try that!

I love the beauty blender sponge. It makes my makeup look so smooth and perfect. I tried applying my liquid foundation with a brush and it looks streaky. I will stick with the sponge! |

I have used brush and blender sponge. I find wet blender sponge uses less make-up for a more natural looking make-up coverage. The brush is also great tool too as I find that I prefer to use this one for more make-up coverage. The only thing is that both needs to be washed after usage which is such a pain |

I've been using this for a few months as well, but now reading your posts realize why I have been breaking out- I dont clean the sponge! What a pain to have to clean it every use. It does blend my liquid foundation nicely though. |

what do u wash the sponge with? i find it hard to wash it with antibacterial soap as it cannot remove all the foundation. |

Antibacterial liquid soap is fine. Put some on the sponge, squeeze it lightly to remove foundation, then, use running warm water to remove the "dirt". Then, shake the sponge to remove excess water and let dry... (well, this is the way I do it...).

I have a dupe from Avon. Also a couple of the mineral makeup companies are selling these.
For years, I was wearing mineral makeup. I have started wearing tinted moisturizer from Paula's Choice spf 30. Great stuff. I then apply a light layer of mineral makeup (Lumiere)with a fluffy brush. Concealer where needed.
I hardly use the Beauty Blender dupe. I do like the pointed end for around the nose and eye area. I wash with hand soap at the sink.
I do really love using a flocked sponge. I use the whole thing on a flat side and make sure all my makeup in blended. I also fold in half to get into any small areas.
The flocked sponge washes easy and last for years. |
