Hi. I have been using a blush by Lancome called "Aplum" for years. I have been trying to find a much less expensive alternative due to the economy. I went to several drug stores, web sites, and department stores, and no one seems to be able to help me. Does anybody here know?

Also, I have been using Lancome Juicy Tubes lip gloss (can't remember the name...Manhattan something?) and hope to find a less expensive alternative. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I don't know if this is an option you would be interested in, but you would probably by able to DIY at least the blush, if not both. Especially if price is your main concern.

If you aren't used to DIYing that sort of thing, it can be a pain to experiment and keep notes until you have the perfect shade...but the results are well worth the effort. You would be surprised at the quality of make up you can make yourself. I'm actually quite proud that I've managed to turn the condition of my lips around by making my own products instead of buying commercial lip glosses and lipsticks.

Fairydogmother (I just wanted to say it lol)you might want to have a look at ELF online. Some of their products are great - some not so great. They are ALL quite inexpensive (yes you did hear me whisper $1 for pen eyeliners)and shipping is free in the USA. I don't live there but even with a hefty shipping charge and a few products I don't like it still feels like Christmas every time - oh I forgot! It IS Christmas . . .

My point is, for a very moderate cost you can experiment to your heart's content - I always like to check out the reviews on Makeup Alley before I buy, too. My recommendation: waterproof mascara - I like their $2 version much better than Lancome. I was reminded of this yesterday when I accidentally picked up the Lancome and then wondered why it was so clumpy.

best, mis

If you go to the Dollar Store, you can find some Elf make-up and some other brand names. I personally bought a bunch of brand names make-up which I have given as "gifts" which Walmart sells for at least CDN$5 each this Christmas. You have to do a lot of browsing to see what suits your personality.

I love going to sephora and playing with all the make up..then i head to the drug store and walmart to buy the knockoff lower brands that really give the same results.

I found a brand at walmart that pretty much matches urban decay. I love the blush and i'm hooked on it. It comes in a fun pink box with a contour shade and cheekbone blush shade. The brand is "fox in a box" by Hard Candy. I also have found that Maybelline foundations are my favorite. I used to use their mouse foundation..now I'm hooked on the air foam foundation in Ivory...it gives me covered and a dewy glow and as spf 16.

another girl on here turned me onto maybelline "baby lips" lip glosses. I'm hooked..sheer youthful colors..inexpensive.. i don't use anything else.

The only thing I can not find..is a great mascara that matches Lancome. I've been trying some..but have yet to find a cheap mascara that rivals the more expensive brands.

Forgot about $ stores - I like to buy mabelline longwear lipstick there, $2 rather than $9 in the drugstore. When I see it, I buy it!

Try the Elf waterproof mascara. I actually switched from Lancome because I like it better! There isn't a LOT in the tube, but we are supposed to change those somewhat frequently and as I don't wear makeup every day, this works well for me.

I recently discovered Camera Ready Cosmetics - https://camerareadycosmetics.com/ - when I was looking for a reasonably priced HD foundation. They have quite a few brands and some awesome pricing on high-quality makeup. Check them out!

Rather than suggest going out and buying different items at the drug stores, etc. looking for a dupe; maybe stick with the Lancome product. If this is the blush you wear every day and use it up; it might be worth it to just pay the extra money. I have a drawer full of cheap items just sitting there. I would buy during a GWP promotion.

If you were to find a dupe; I would check out L'oreal. L'oreal owns Lancome (and other companies) and is a quality product for a lower cost.

I have been looking for a less expensive alternative to Lancome Juicy Tubes Smoothie Ultra Shiny Lip Gloss Fifth Avenue Frosting. This product has been my favorite and it's now discontinued!! Sad I went on Makeup Alley to read the reviews and no one posted any alternatives. I don't have time for DIY makeup. Does anyone know of any web sites that list less expensive alternatives? Thanks!

Bonne Bell makes a lip gloss that I really like. It doesn't plump or anything, but it's nice. I like the strawberry - sheer pink color and it tastes like Strawberry Laffy Taffy!

Edited to add - Eyes Lips Face (E.L.F.) has a big selection of makeup and specials out the wazoo:
