Hi
I am currently using La prairie skincare products and am not sure if they are the best on the market, does anyone else use them and if so what do they think.

Gillian I guess it depends your age and what your skin care issues are, I am 52 and have some fine lines and wrinkles.
I used LP products for 3 years and they did nothing for my skin.
The moisturizers were very nice and did provide moisture during the day but once I washed my face there was no lasting effect.
I have tried most of LP serums and at $150 a pop they were a waste of my $$.
I also used the Caviar Foundation which was very luxurious but after a while I discovered Chanel's Pro Lumiere for a third of the price and it was just as nice on my skin.
Sorry to be so negative but I have spend literally thousands on LP, LM, and many other high end lines and they had no lasting effect on my skin.
Everyone's skin and tastes are very different, if you are happy with LP and see that it is working and effective for your own issues then stick with it! |

I only tried 3 of their products - the simple eyecream, cleanser and toner.
Complete waste of money. I was very disappointed considering how much I paid for them.
Granted, every brand has better and worse products so maybe I was unlucky, but I don't know. It's very discouraging to keep trying when they cost so much. |

I've tried one of their serums and it didn't do anything for me, except hurt my wallet, that is. |

I once got a Caviar facial and the spa using this line. It did feel nice right after that my complexion is so much brightened. I didn't purchase anything from them because they were too expensive for me, even they offered a 10% discount. |

I agreed! I used to be a LP fan, not because of the result, just because their prices are so high that make me believe they should be good.
But honestly, they did not improve my skin, probably, did not turn worse. |

Hi all
Thanks to all that replied to my question about la prairie, I am 39 and have been using the 4 yrs. I do not think that they are making a great difference in my skin to justify the cost. There are great reviews on this site about cellcosmet, can anyone advise me on if I should buy them.

Gillian I have also used quite a few things from the Cellcosmet line and my feelings are the same as the LP line.
I really love the scent of Cellcosmet but again no lasting effects or changes to justify the price! |

Gillian I have started to incorporate these products into my skincare regime the past few months.
NCN Pumpkin Peel
Dr. Pickart Copper Peptides
Green Cream
Candessence Triple C Serum
Ari's Home Spa "Eye Believe" Eye Cream
The changes I am noticing is a greater clarity to my skintone, diminished pores and my overall
complexion looks brighter even after all the product is washed away.
I basically read through all the pertinent threads and for my age these seemed to be the products that everyone was having success with, so I gave them a try.
One other benefit of these items, great prices!! HTH! |

I don't think all department store skincare brands are necessarily bad, but LP is ABSURD. Overpriced beyond belief and no more effective than a drugstore moisturizer imo |

Cassie this is what I was finding, just because it was more expensive it didn't mean it was better!!
The only problem I have with drugstore brands of skincare and foundation is that they are so heavily scented to the point that most of them I cannot use. |

Thanks all for replying.
I really don't know where to go from here. I spend more money on my skin than I can afford and am so worried about getting lines and wrinkles that I spend a fortune.
I had a facial recently using germaine de capuccini products, skin glowing after but i received samples and didn't think much of them and went back to LP. I have used La mer didn't think much of it, also Dr sebagh and a lot of other lines. The only reason I thought of cellcosmet is because of the good reviews.
At 39 and not wanting to age further what do i do |

Gillian,
Aging is a part of life. Worrying about it will only bring you more wrinkles The goal should be to age gracefully.
This forum is a great source of information. Read around - but instead of jumping to and fro from the "next best thing" product-wise, start reading and learning about your skin type. Review what you've used already and the results. Look at the ingredients of what you used. And ask yourself, what works best so far with your skin?
If you go for professional facials, use the aesthetician that you see as a resource - not so much for selling you products, but to give you feedback on what your skin needs in regards to hydration, exfoliation, etc. For instance, some skin reacts better to manual exfoliation; some skin does better with chemicals. Read about anti-aging ingredients so you get a better idea when you look at a product's ingredients if you then think it is worth the $$.
Try to create a routine that is doable and that doesn't cause you more stress. Spending more than you can afford is a big stressor and really is NOT necessary. |

I think it's not the best in the market. It's so over price and I can't effort it. I alway buy skincare from thier active ingredient. |

Gillian,
Mishie's post on this thread of what she's currently using is a good start to look at. Just read threads around the EDS Forums to get ideas and do some research.
Active Ingredients
I would look into things like getting a topical Vitamin C product. I also recommend researching copper peptides (CPs) - I just started using SkinBio's GHK copper peptide cream. Just don't use the Vit. C and CP products at the same time of day - separate use by 8-12hours. A good page that is a general overview on copper peptides is: http://www.platinumskincare.com/copper_overview.htm
Exfoliation
You want to consider how to add exfoliation into your routine. Everyone is different like I stated previously - some do better with chemical, some with manual, some with a combo of the two, etc. I use both. I use a Clarisonic skin brush which I highly recommend. I think spending $$ on this tool is a better investment than most products you can buy - and it's a one time investment that you should get a lot of use out of. Do a search for the Clarisonic on the Forum and you will find a lot of reviews and feedback.
Hydration
Incorporate both internal (drinking water, taking essential fatty acid supplements, and possibly hyaluronic acid supplements as well) and external moisturizing. On external moisturizing, you'll have to experiment and find what works best for you. More $$ definitely doesn't mean better. I have dry skin and use mostly carrier oil based products that incorporate essential oils. You can make your own combos as well. Read up.
Hope that helps. |

Gillian I also started with one new product at a time making sure that I could tolerate it.
I started with Vitamin C in the morning and then progressed to CPs.
I've just started with Green Cream and so far I've had no adverse reaction.
As lunarmm suggested there is so much info on this board to read through it will give you everything you need to know for your specific concerns. |

I used their Retexturizing Booster for close to a year, and with good - maybe great - results. It is a complex AHA/BHA formulation that is gentle and elegant. Because I felt the cost was prohibitive, I started trying other somewhat similar products. I tried the Alpha Hydroxy souffle, Isomers Daily Exfoliating Serum and on and on. Then I tried out Murad's Night Reform which has a different pool of ingredients but still contains glycolic acid. So far, so good. I have been using it for several months and I like it a lot. Since it is warm where I live, I only use this at night and it delivers enough moisture to my slightly oily skin, and has really kept it clear and even.
All that said, I found the retexturizing booster to be an excellent product. |

I have received samples of cellcosmet products and have started to use them. I cannot say if they are working yet as it is early days. Does anyone know if I can use la prairie serums under the cellcosmet moisturisers as there does not seem to be serums in there line. |

You should be able to but I can't say for sure as I don't know the ingredients of the products. You want to avoid certain combos - like copper peptides should not be put on at the same time as topical Vit. C. I would just try it and see what you feel. Some products cause other products (like serums) to ball up. |

The main reason is that the exorbitant prices are not justified by immediate or obvious results. I have used the line for 3 years now but have diverted to other brands thanks to the advice by the dear members in this forum. But to be fair to La Prairie they do carry some good items - mainly in the caviar line which is more suitable for mature skin types. As to Cellcosmet, I have tried the a few items (Anti-stress mask, hand cream etc.) and can't say I'm too impressed. |

I've used cellcosmet at AM and LP eye cream contour at PM for the past 3 years. I don't have any problem with them even I do personally feel cellcosmet is much drier compared to LP. I can't live without them now, but I daren't switch to other brand... maybe I should start looking. |
