I'm 26 male. I have acne still on my face with the pimples but my biggest problem is when pimples are gone, it leaves those red/brown marks which looks very bad.

Well a few weeks ago i grew another pimple on the left side of my face. Its on the upper left cheek area right between my cheek and eyes. Normally i just use neutrogena acne defense lotion on pimples and usually after a few days, the pimple will get smaller though it takes much longer for the pimple to go away. Well this pimple feels very weird. Because when i touch it, it doesn't feel like a normal pimple. Its sorta red/pinkish on my face but its not super huge like some cysts that i see online. Its however a bit bigger than the size of a normal pimple and feels underneize the skin. I also put some insect bite cream on it as well and it still doesn't go away.

I'm very worried because i had this spot for about 1 month already. It doesn't seem to go away. It however is not painful at all. I googled a lot and i read this is a cyst?? Also could it be an abcess? I'm very worried as i never had a pimple that never even shrinks in size so i'm very concerned.

Its like a raised pimple and when you touch it, it feels completely different than a normal pimple i get. Can someone give me advice?

Is it possible for it to go away? Or do i have to go to a dermatologist and have them look at it? I don't have any insurance so i would be paying out of my pocket. I hear people say they would do a cortisone shot on it. But wouldn't that leave a really nasty scar or mark?

I read that you could do warm compresses on it but has anyone here had something like this and had it go away by using any cream or warm compress.

I'm very worried right now.

It might very well be a cyst. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't. Anyone can get a cyst. My son had one behind his ear when he was just 5 years old. It eventually went away on it's own. The doctors did not want to mess around with it. Creams are not going be very helpful. They cannot penetrate the skin that deeply and even if they can, sometimes these cysts have sort of a casing around them keeping them protected. Be gently with it and your body should eventually absorb it. Apply warm wet compress to it as much as you can during the day. That should help bring it to the surface and it also helps with the circulation around it. If it starts to hurt and feels hot to the touch - you should probably see a doctor. Good luck.

It may well go away on its own but if it really bothers you, you should ask a dermatologist for help. I wouldn't try to squeeze it or lance it myself, you might cause an unsightly scar.

try using an OTC antibiotic ointment on it.. I have discovered that this is the best way to shrink acne but then I have been lucky not to get deep acne/cysts either....

If it is a cyst it won't go away until it is squeezed out. Why don't you try a chemical peel after it heals up for your red marks

If it's a cyst (which, according to your description, it probably is) then it will eventually go away on its own. But if you feel more comfortable about it, you should definitely talk with a dermatologists for a more professional opinion.

Do you have regular acne pimples or deep cysts?
I have had a very good luck controlling my acne with some of the ProActiv products. I use the Clarifying Night Cream and the 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide. I use the night cream at night of course and the benzoyl peroxide in the morning. I wash my face with Olay Foaming Face wash. It is very gentle but very thorough and gets my face really clean but not tight or dry. I use a clarisonic brush most days, or an old washcloth on some days (just to be sure I get a deep clean). So, between the washing, the night cream and the BP cream I have had only one pimple with-in the past couple of months since I started using this. I also used to get deep cysts on occasion and I haven't had one of those either. Whatever you do - don't forget to use sunscreen every day. For my acne prone oily skin, my favorite suscreens are Olay Complete Daily defense SPF 30, or CeraVe AM lotion with SPF 30.

Sounds like it probably is, especially if it's been there for that long. I'd go see a derm, they'd probably recommend a peel or other exfoliation treatment to bring it to the surface and squeeze it out.

I had very good luck with Proactiv as well, when nothing else worked (including antibiotics).

I highly recommend taking a powerful antioxidant. Pycnogenol in the form of a pill has done wonders for speeding up and healing my acne. My body is fighting off the bacteria causing acne at a much quicker rate, also I haven't caught a cold all winter season

Hey BCGirl - I think I've seen another post from you about this antioxidant. I will research it further, but can you tell me how long you have been taking it and what kind of effects you notice from it. When did you realize it was helping you in any way etc...

Hi Salome and snow fairy. I've been taking pycnogenol for 4 weeks now. I've noticed no negative affects from taking it. My digestion has been good. I also take flAx oil and probiotics everyday, so I'm sure that contributes to healthy digestion. I noticed the pycnogenol almost immediately after taking it. Sort of like how you would take viramin C when you feel any first signs of a cold and it usually works. It's been a horrible winter season with the cold and flu going around at work and everywhere. Almost everyone at my work has been or is currently sick. I haven't gotten sick yet all winter long. I've felt like I may get sick but I take a pycnogenol at night, when I wake up I'm totally great again with my immune system. What pycnogenol does is boost your immune system with its powerful antioxidants. Pycnogenol hasn't decreased the amount of breakouts I get but has decreased the amount of time a pimple would be on my face. Instead of a cyst being there for a week, I would notice when I wake up there would already be a pimple ready to be popped because its already filled with pus. Or I've noticed I wake up with a red pimple, mid day it's already turned white and ready to be popped.
Also what I e noticed is my skin isn't as dry as it usually is in the winter time
