Hi
i am going to make my own diy vitamin c over the weekend,

i would like to know how do i apply my diy vitamin c to my face.

Should i use it on a dry or wet face?

How long do i have to wait after cleansing and how long after applying the c serum before using moisturiser?

Thanks.

How about if I use my home made vc serum in daytime?
Is it safe to use it in daytime? Will it make my face getting yellow??? Thanks!

you are suppose to use it in the day. it is an antioxidant. unfortunately diy vit c did more harm than good for my face. clogged pores, face turning dark and orange and dry.

i mean this reaction is just me only. you may not react the same to diy. there are others in eds who had the same reaction as me clogged pores, dried skin, skin turning orange and dark. if you are having the same side effects like me, stop the diy vit c. just quit diy vit c. your skin will get better but give it time. after your skin is ok, if you want to use vit c, get a store made one.

Actually, a lot of people (me included) use it at night to get the full effect of the treatment.

If you're using a trusted DIY recipe with the right ingredients (be very careful with this), it'll be carefully adjusted to be compatible with skin. A lot of us get only glowing skin if we're following the instructions properly. If you're concerned about it being a problem for you, do a patch test the side of your jaw or something.
DIY vit c is usually fresher than store bought, without fillers or other things which may complicate matters.

Thanks for your suggestion, in order to make the full effect.
I will try to use it only in the evening!
btw, because I am in Canada so I am only finding DIY materials from canadian websites. And I found http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca/ which EDS also have people suggest this website. I searched, they have vitamin c powder there, I asked them about whether this one is what I want to use as DIY vc serum material. They only tell me it is Ascorbic Acid. Then I saw other people who bought this powder there said they use this powder as Vc serum ingredients. So I think I will buy some and try to make it.
I really want fresh vc serum also because I use serum very quickly Laughing

Anyway, thanks lots for telling me your experience! Thanks!

It is cheap... but you know it may charge duty fees from other countries, so I would not consider other website..

Hey angeldayspa,
Just a note that I didn't mean to discount what the other person said about using it in the daytime. There are different schools of thought about it and I don't think it was ever completely cleared up about which one is best.

Also, about ingredients, this can be confusing too. They advise only to use L-Ascorbic Acid, but apparently some vit c's that are simply labelled Ascorbic Acid are the same thing and work well for people. I'd hope that if you get it from a reputable diy skincare ingredient distributer though, they'll only be carrying the correct one.

Just remember to follow the recipe - more is not better! I made that mistake before, just mixing vit c with water for a while, sometimes too much, and it turned out to be way too harsh for my skin. I suffered no noticeable ill effects and only learned that after time.

Hi LoriA, I understand it. I would like to listen to different opinions about using cosmetic. If I think it is reasonable, I would try to believe it.
I hope the website I am looking is ok. I know there are lots of websites sell materials. However, I do not want my shopping has huge duty fees from other countries
Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
I will follow the recipe strictly! Thanks again for your patience.
