Hi all
I have some food-grade vitamin a retinyl palmitate powder. I want to use it in olive oil.
When I mix them, the powder do not dissolve, it ends up in the bottom. I have tried to heat the oil up to 35 degrees and whisking it lightly without any success.
What is your experience with dissolving this powder in a carrier oil? Do you heat the oil, and to what degree?
Have a nice day |

Hi
Vitamin a retinyl palmitate powder is water soluble, so it will dissolve in water. In oil it is going to just clump up, as you've already discovered. In water it will "melt" but the oil just encapsulates it and prevents it from dissolving. Maybe you could make a mist with it? From purified water and the powder. I'm thinking you could spray the mist on your face, let it evaporate and absorb, and then put on a moisturizer. Or dissolve it in purified water, and then add that to your moisturizer. I've done that with MSM powder; I've dissolved it in water and added it to my liquid moisturizer. |

I will soon start to cry. Why is it the retinyl palmiate is so misleading, some sites write it is oil soluble. Many users on skin care talk, say they have just added it to a carrier oil. Some say it cannot be dissolved in water but only alcohol, i dont know what to believe.
But it should be dissolved, if i dissolve in directly in water or in a existing lotion? |

I would contact the source where you bought it. They should be able to tell you what their product is soluble in. Sometimes they include an instruction sheet with the purchase as well. |
