In the following video, a woman explains how she makes her own La Mer-like cream.

I haven't watched this yet, but Skin Actives has a kit that duplicates the La Mer cream.

I used the Skinactives kit and it really is pretty good. Having used the real thing, I like being able to control the consistency.

I'm working on a DIY CDLM project now...

For those interested, you might want to check out "Nivea Cream" (made in Germany only), which is almost the identical base as CDLM... I've also been told it smells almost exactly the same also.

To that *base*, you need only to add a few of the best "oils" from the ingredient list of CDLM, a bit of "lecithin", up the "panthenol" a bit, and of course you'll need the *magic broth* (Sea Kelp Bioferment.)

My "lime extract" won't be ready for another 3 weeks, so my next batch will include that...

So far so good for batch #1, and it's even going from white to clear when rubbed between my fingers.

Never thought I'd see the day when I would be happily applying mineral oil and petrolatum to my skin. (Never say never... Laughing )

For those who really want to get serious about this dupe, you could get yourself an "ultrasonic jewelry cleaner", and do a little homework on how the CDLM "broth" is made.. Wink

ETA: A few drops of this went into my brew also.. (Also liking it in my "conductive" products!) http://www.rakuten.com/prod/cellfood-liquid-concentrate-1-ounce-bottle-by-lumina-cell-food/247694647.html?listingId=269818858

Kassy_A Where can Nivea Cream (Made in Germany only) be purchased? Also "Lime extract"? - what benefit does it provide? and where can it be obtained?
Thanks

I see Nivea Cream at Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Nivea-80107-Cream-13-54Oz-400g/dp/B000KTBKMI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1372952957&sr=8-3&keywords=Nivea+cream

Is this the right one?

I've used this on and off for years as a spot moisturizer when my skin gets dry. It's a very rich cream.

I don't remember now, there was a link from another DIY thread.
I will see what I can find!

Dont forget to chant and/or play harmonic music while the culture broth incubates. Isnt that part of the cache of CdlM?

Youtube has been temperamental on me lately so I can't watch the video. *sad faces*

But I thought one of the problems with other entities trying to reproduce la mer was the fact that nobody knew which species of kelp la mer specifically used. Has this changed in the past few years?

Thanks Doba, that's the one! I could not remember. It goes a long way, still on my first batch but I have plenty of materials to make more.
So maybe I should put my broth in my jewelry cleaner to incubate while chanting? I already have the music thing covered. Hmmm......

Do any of you lovely ladies know where I could purchase the Bioferment Sea kelp?

I live in Australia and would prefer not to purchase online?

Do you think it would be available at health food shops or the pharmacy???

Many thanks

There are a few sellers of the "German" product on Amazon.. To be sure, just confirm these ingredients:

Nivea Cream (Germany)
Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Microcristallina, Glycerin, Lanolin Alcohol (Eucerit®), Paraffin, Panthenol, Decyl Oleate, Octyldodecanol, Aluminum Stearates, Citric Acid, Magnesium Sulfate, Magnesium Stearate, Parfum, Limonene, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Cinnamyl Alcohol

The Nivea Cream made in Mexico contains beeswax. You DON'T want that one.

I have no idea why the CDLM contains "lime extract", but I've used it in mine just to keep it similar. I made my own (with extra to keep on hand.)

- zest (only) of 3 limes
- 4oz of vodka
- covered glass jar (Mason jars are perfect)

Add the zest to the jar, pour in the vodka, then just seal and put in a cool dark cupboard for 4 to 6 weeks. Give it a gentle *swish* every few days or so.

Have a nice vodka & tonic while you're at it... Wouldn't want to waste all that lovely lime.. Laughing

Laughing

Not sure about the "chanting", but supposedly a recording was made (in the sea), from where the kelp is harvested.

So sound, sonic agitation and lights, and 4 months later, wala; *magic broth*.
