Does anyone know if I take hair vitamins like Hairfinity or Profoll, and take Centrum as well, can I overdose, or make myself sick? |

Take Viviscal because it's made from fish. |

I take biotin, silica and MSM for hair. Cheaper to just buy the separate supplements than to pay out the wazoo for a pill that is marketed for hair. |

Did the Bioten or MSM make you break out? |

No, no breakouts. MSM upset my stomach a bit at first, I took too big a dose. I just cut back and then increased it a little until I was taking 1 1/2 tsp. a day. I think that's 1.5grams, not sure. Biotin didn't affect my stomach or skin negatively at all. |

I lost about 50% of my hair from stress, and nothing the docs or derms recommended worked. (Rogaine, supplements, etc) I started taking Viviscal after reading about it while in Europe...within 3 weeks my shedding started decreasing, and after a couple of my months my derm started carrying it for his patients. It basically doubled my growth rate, and the vast majority of my hair grew back in ( though it did grow in gray).
There were a number of clinical studies out of Finland (mostly on men), and also some showing benefits to skin and nails. I believe a very similar formula for skin is sold as Imedeem (or something close to that).
The only negative I found is that I had a slight acne breakout the first few weeks each time I started it after a break, and you are recommended to take a break every 6 months for 1 month at a time. My nails grew crazy fast, and it made my nose hairs grow a bit too long (easily snipped). Unfortunately after taking it for probably close to 15 years it stopped working for me.
The company now has a new US distributor, and has an extra strength formula for women. After taking several years off, I just started taking it again since I am having major hairloss due to either my thyroid or work stress (sigh).
I personally think it is awesome and will continue to take it as long as it works for me. If you are considering it, shop carefully since prices vary. I do recommend trying it for at least 6 months though.
Eta: the primary ingredient is marine protein, so it is not recommended for people with fish or shellfish allergies. |

I heard that copper is somewhat beneficial for slowing the graying of hair. |
