Would this routine be overkill? I’m trying to get rid of the remaining breakouts I experience while simultaneously lighten my post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

WOW, yes. This would be serious overkill.
My skin is dry and I don't have breakouts or hyper-pigmentation so I can not recommend an alternative routine but I do know that this is WAY, WAY to much exfoliation. You will destroy your skin barrier. |

I would say, use basic stuff: cleanse, moisturize and protect - can not lighten without sunscreen and hiding from sun, and then add ONE new product each month to allow skin to come to terms with the hardcore exfoliating program you propose in your post. You may find that you don't need to use THAT much and normally dermatologists do not recommend more than 2 treatment products in one routine, moisturizers and sunscreens not included, because it overloads skin with actives which irritates and ruins skin in long run. And might worsen your hyperpigmentation pretty fast.
Some people say niacinamide and glucosamine helped with their pigment and acne issues, it's at least worth a try as it is less invasive than 4 exfoliating treatments. |

Welcome to this forum, .chris I find that your routine is far too much. I understand your concerns on these issues. I would suggest you use a mild exfoliation at least 1x week. EDS sells some mild exfoliation cream (some of which are organics) that you can try or you can make at home (go to DIY section of this forum, there are tons of DIY recipes)... Too much exfoliation as per your suggested routine will just make your skin worse, especially doing it 2x per day. Let your skin heals slowly. At the same time, check your diet. Eating lots of green and colorful vegies/fruits, fish, less fried/processed foods will surely improve your skin long-term. Drinking lots of water to cleanse your system, sleeping well, and avoid stressful situation will also help. Sunscreen is also important to apply everyday for protection against UVA/UVB rays from sun... Everybody (I think) want perfect skin, who doesn't? But you have to work the skin/body in such a manner that you give it good nutrients to heal itself. Good luck! |
