I have a couple of acne cystic pimples on my jawline that are huge. Its red and inflamed. Its like a pustule but really big and a few of them. Im very depressed b/c of this. They are very painful.

I read about these cortisone shots online and most ppl say it helps for those inflamed cystic pimples. However there are some cases where it didn't go right such as atrophy. But from what i read, the atrophy in the skin gets better within 2 months with most people.

Would you suggest getting these cortisone shots based on your experience? Most ppl say they got it b/c they couldnt stand those huge cystic pimples on their face so would you say do it?

These cystic pimples are huge and it usually takes 1 month at the minimum for it to get better and longer for it to be able to pop. I can't even pop it now. Of course it scars as well when i pop it.

Would love if any of you can tell me what was your situation and if it did good or bad for you. I mean i don't mind having a dent on my face for 2 months b/c these cystic pimples are just huge. I seen some photos of ppl who had dents but they are from ppl who have it on their cheeks and if these cystic pimple is on my cheek, i might not do it. But since its around the jawline, i want to.

I think they are great. I have only had it done a few times but they shrink down to almost nothing in 24 hours after the shot.

Did you have any side affects like atrophy or anyting like that? Did you get the cortisone shot really fast after getting the cystic pimples? Or did you wait for a bit and then get it?

How big were these cystic pimples?

When I was in my early 20's I suddenly developed cystic acne, which didn't finally go away until Accutane after rounds and rounds of antibiotics.
I had quite a few cortisone shots as the cysts were very painful and some quite large.
I had to be in the derm's office bi-weekly so he would inject whichever cyst was inflamed at the time. If I had a really large one come up, I would go in quickly and he would catch it within the first 48 hours.
Most of them deflated and went away. Several had to have 2 injections. I am left with 3 scars/spots that did atrophy, only 1 that is really even noticeable on my chin (but small by most standards). The other two I have been able to use TCA on and they are almost non-existent. The other is in a little wrinkle/crease area so is more prominent but not enough to make me insane. I obsess enough about the other stuff, haha!
But I am VERY prone to scars that keloid so my case is not the norm. I would say the percentage of NOT having an issue was pretty high, considering my normal reaction to scarring!
Looking back, the injection to get the cyst to go away was way more worth it than the risk. I would not change a thing other than getting on Accutane sooner. The antibiotics nearly killed me but was the norm at the time.
Cystic Acne is a game-changer and can be far more difficult to treat than normal acne when it is in its most advanced stage. Getting it handled in the beginning prevents scars, red marks/pitting and (in my case) the embarrassment of it.
