Hello,
I am an avid Creme de La Mer user and have always loved it. Now that the price is almost $300 for the large jar, I am wondering if I should branch out. Does anyone have any information on Sk-II, ReVive, or Skinceuticals face creams? I need a hydrating cream, and like the texture of CDLM. I just want to know if any other expensive products are worth trying. I have used Kiehl's and am also interested in Clarins or Kate Sommerville as well.
Also, is anyone using serums? I am clueless with these. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance! |

SK-II's big "miracle" ingredient is pitera. According to most sources, it seems to be a mostly unknown ingredient. SK-II can claim whatever they want however I would rely on ingredients with more research behind them. Also, SK-II is exorbitantly expensive, and it seems you're trying not to spend too much money, so I wouldn't recommend that.
ReVive uses EGF in many (if not all? correct me if wrong) of its products so, as of now, I wouldn't use it. In my opinion, there isn't enough studies in humans (with respect to research on aging skin) to warrant the usage of a potentially harmful ingredient (look up EGF and cancer). It may be a miraculous skin care addition although I always say "better safe than sorry"!
Skinceuticals I am not completely familiar with, although their CE Ferulic serum seems to be well-known (and effective!). Their "Epidermal Repair" cream seems alright, and potentially close to CDLM.
Honestly, I am not into expensive face creams. I, personally, do not believe many of them can live up to their overwhelming claims. For a BASIC skin moisturizer, I love CeraVe Cream (which, IMO, is similar to CDLM and probably 1/20 the price). CDLM's ingredients just don't impress me, as their are creams much, much cheaper that would do the same thing. If you still have a hankering for a more expensive cream, at least use one with lots of antioxidants for cellular protection against free radicals!
As for serums, definitely use a Vitamin C (preferably with vit. E and Ferulic acid!). According to one particular study, this increased the efficacy of a sunscreen 4 to 8 times. I would recommend an antioxidant serum in the morning to protect against sun damage and provide additional support to sunscreen. |

I am also using Creme de La Mer and love it. ReVive did not work for me at all and gave me dry patches. It is also not cheap. Skinceuticals c e ferulic was OK but my skin prefers Creme de La Mer. |

CDLM is a great moisturizer. The only other cream I like that compares to it is Nia 24's Intensive Recovery Complex.
For Skinceuticals I recommend the C E Ferulic, although Cosmetic Skin Solutions do the exact same product for a fraction of the price. |

There is something about SK-II and it could well be the miracle ingredient of Pitera that makes FTE (Facial Treatment Essence) the HG of essences. It tones, brightens and gives the SK-II glow to my skin. Many of my asian / oriental friends also swear by it. |

I have been using CDLM for 10 years now and have never found another cream to equal it. Cheaper creams did not even come close and creams that were even more expensive did not equal the effectiveness of CDLM. After spending many years trying to find alternative creams I realized that CDLM is just one of a kind that does exactly what I need in a facial moisturizer. |

I don't think CDLM has any anti-aging effect. Clarins carrys day/night creams for sensitive skin and they were great. |
