Sad Hi guys,my self esteem is usually not this low...My skin has been looking really dull and grayish pale, theres no color to my lips or cheeks and of course like many others I have those genetic dark circles under my eyes so..yes,

Ugh :/

I was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions?for adding color to my skin? preferably with out the use of make up?

Oh yes and I thought I'd add this bit too: I can't find the thread about thin under eyes anywhere?! does anybody have a link/have we reached a conclusion?

Or I shall adress the problem here as well...
So I have skin so so so thin that you can see my whole booe stucture popping out or standing out from the eye area and it looks like if you poked my skin around the under eye that'd it just rip...
Its so thin you can fully see all my blue and purple veins...when I was a kid I thought my eyes looked cool because with light blue irsises, dark circles and bright blue veins I thought I looked like a charicter or villian out of a fantasy book or film....now that I'm older I really am not finding it attactive..................

any recommendations/video links to facial exc. would help

I'm getting a laser done in the nest month will that help

Annd last but not least would a biocurrent device help???

Any help would be sooooooooooo gratefully apperated I'm in a real downer mood

Hi heyheymonster,

Don't be a downer! I'm sure there's a solution to your problem.

When I read that your skin was thin and dull I immediately thought that you could benefit greatly from using a vitamin c serum. Vitamin c is known to help increase collagen production in the skin, making it thicker, and it also helps to brighten up the skin.
Have you used a vitamin c serum in the past? I would definitely recommend it if you haven't.

Also, are you getting plenty of fruits and veggies (preferably raw) through your diet? Eating healthy is imperative for good skin. I know from personal experience that if I don't eat healthy it shows on my skin immediately. My skin looks dull, sallow and just tired and aged.
Also, take a good multivitamin daily if you don't already do so.

Eating lots of green leafy vegetables can help with dark under eye circles because they are rich in vitamin k. Inadequate levels of vitamin k in the body usually lead to dark circles.

I don't know much about laser and bio currents so unfortunately I cannot help you in that department.

I agree about vit.C serum for brightening, my skin will start looking dull if I go any length of time without using it. Purely cosmetic but I will often use a self tanner or bronzer to give me some color. Another suggestion would be incorporating an AHA product into your regime or retinol.

Hi,I guess first you should find the reason why the skin
changes, healthy problem or just not have a good rest?I think you can eat more and do some excises.

Aria_amour - Thank you so very much it was very informitive
and thank you to the rest of you...it got me thinking,
I actually have never used vit. C..but only becuase of the cost, can I mix it with oils? or do I have to keep it in the fridge?
So theres one thing

Second no I haven't been eating hardly at all,and when I do its potatoes,, this is because I'm broke though and I don't have the money to go and get anything else, buuut I'm sure I can come across some vitamins laying around the house so I will start with that!

As far as exersize goes I have been doing a small amount lately-has been helping me feel better, ust wish I could avoid cramps when I do my abs haha.

And no I dont hardly ever sleep either...I have bad sleep apnea and what Im thinking is something close to parasomnia (and thats even when my brains asleep I can still move my body consciously..its like being to places at once but its horrible)

For AHA...I'm thinking I will try vit C serum, maybe not AHA yet if the vit C does it for me! anyways thank you all very much!!!

hhm, please find a way to eat first rather than get your laser treatment. A better diet will do more than anything else to improve not only the way you look, but the way you think and feel. I can't imagine doing any exercise, or much of anything actually, on a diet of potatoes, never mind getting a decent night's sleep.
You won't be able to process the vitamins so that they do any good without eating food. I hope that you're at least drinking a lot of water.

About vitamin c, I'd first recommend that you include real fruit & vegetables in your diet, but after that you'll find that the diy recipes are extremely inexpensive to put together. They are normally mixed with water.

You are very welcome heyheymonster! Smile

If I'm not mistaken, the only forms of vitamin c that are oil soluble are Ascorbyl Palmitate and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. L-ascorbic acid is only soluble in water. And yes, you do have to keep it in the fridge and discard after a few days. Fresh vit. C is always the most effective!

When I first began experimenting with DIY vitamin c serums, I purchased the Trader Joe's vitamin c crystals which was only $10 for a 16oz bottle. I really enjoyed my homemade serums, but because I got really busy with school and didn't have time to make a fresh batch every few nights,
I eventually went on to purchasing the Cosmetic Skin Solutions C E & ferulic which is supposedly a dupe for the very expensive Skinceuticals serum. I liked that serum very much. And just a few days ago I placed an order for the SkinActives vitamin c serum, which I am really excited about. It is really affordable ($15 + shipping) with plenty of excellent ingredients.

So those were just a few of my recommendations.

BUT! When it comes to prioritizing your money I would only recommend proper nutrition!!! Topical lotions and potions don't even come close to what you can do for your skin from the inside out. So with that being said, I really do hope that you'll get on a healthy eating plan and watch your skin transform for the better! Smile

Hope that helps!

I agree with LoriA on her suggestion. It sounds like your skin (or body) is telling you to "feed" it. Even if you are broke, you can find alternative ways to eat right by buying fresh vegies and fruits when they are in season. Go to the groceries that have sales and you will find that you don't need to spend a ton of money on fresh produce. After correcting your diet, you can use vitamin C serum that will also help your skin. You can DIY and you will find that it is so much fun to make and it won't cost you "an arm and a leg". Good luck! Smile

You can get the Vit C crystals for $3 at owndoc. You don't need to worry about refrigerate it or storing it if you do what I do: Make a tiny bit every night (just enough for one night's use), that way it's always super fresh, and it seriously takes less than 30 seconds to make, and you get SO much product, I've been doing this for 3 months now and I still have so much left it'll probably last me the rest of the year. Here's the link: http://shop.owndoc.com/product-info.php?vitamin-c-pid175.html

The ladies are right, nothing has done more for my skin than the Vit. C. However, you REALLY, REALLY need to find a way to get more nutrition into your diet. There is NOTHING shameful about getting help if you need it. You need fresh fruits and vegetables and you aren't getting those. Please, if you need monetary assistance, ask for it.. there is nothing wrong or shameful about it and don't let any jerks make you think there is. Also, please, please, please try to find a way to get more rest. I know that's easier said than done, especially if you have a sleep condition & don't have the money to see a doctor, but if you're really in need I know for a fact you can go to the ER for example and they have to see you. I'm sure there are many other programs out there to help you get medical treatment if you can't afford it. If you can, please do. Either way, there is simply nothing more important when it comes to our looks (especially when it comes to sallow skin!) than getting a good night's rest. You would be STUNNED at the difference it makes.

Yes. You mix them at a ratio of about 19:1 (water:crystals) meaning, say, for every 1/4th teaspoon of the crystals, you'd mix it with 19 1/4th teaspoons of water (which of course works out to 4 and 3/4ths teaspoons of water). That's a guideline, if you want it stronger I would say mix it at a ratio of about 15:1 or even 10:1 once your skin gets used to it. But yes, all you have to do is mix the crystals in the water and stir. It'll still have a liquid consistency but it works great and works wonders for your skin.

No, don't do Perricone; the PUFAs in salmon will catch up with you later and not in a good way:

Why not try the PMD (microdermabrasion); exfoliation helps improve skin tone and color. Eating at least 50 grams of protein a day from animal sources is important since skin is made from protein and also vitamin C (orange juice is a good source) helps neutralize free radicals. Vitamin C serum also helps.

Yeah, it figures you're very young so able to get away without eating. As you get older you simply won't be able to manage and you'll only be causing damage to your body.
Take everyone's advice and eat. Watermelon is not food, its water, with very few real nutrients if I'm correct.

If you don't like cooking, try going to a Chinese restaurant and order a Broccoli dish -- it will be delicious and not very expensive and give you lots of antioxidants and healthy nutrients. Also if you don't cook, buy the bagged Spinach and just chop it with a knife and add your favorite dressing (I like olive oil and vinegar but whatever's easiest for you...)
Also: keep eating watermelon -- it has Lycopene -- a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin and probably adds color too (as do the veggies from the protective pigment..)
good luck!
