The thread on Estriol (and progesterone) cream intrigued me and I ordered some and just started using it. I have a few questions that maybe you all can answer for me...
1. Can it be used daily?
2. Can I use Cerave over it and, if so, how long should I wait in between application of Estriol and Cerave creams?
3. Does anyone out there have a favorite estriol cream that they can recommend? I just started using Smoky Mountain Estriol Cream which is approximately .25%, but I have read that .3 is the best to get the best results. I also ordered the oestral cream from In house Pharmacy, but that is only .1%
Thanks for the assistance! |

My gyno wrote me a prescription for bioidentical Estriol .3% and I've only been using it for a week. No results yet. I don't need a moisturizer over it as it's quite creamy. I just put sunscreen over it. I do use an AHA at night, wash face in morning with Cerave Foaming Cleanser, then apply CPs, wait, then Estriol, wait, then sunscreen. |

I would guess then that it is OK to use estriol cream and then something over top or underneath of it.
I am also on a bio-identical estrogen patch and take progesterone at night. Perhaps I don't need the .3% since I am taking some in through the patch? |

I used some OTC estradiol/estriol a few years ago; it really hyped me up and did not fix any of my symptoms- at best it masked them. Stick with progesterone and start *lowering* your estrogen and stress. I have almost no period (a few drops of blood per month at most) and also few or no peri symptoms other than some faint sweat under my arms. Read Ray Peat for a better understanding; a lot of John Lee's work (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause etc) is based on his ideas, if you want to read a mainstream book about it:

Am I understanding this right: SmokyMtnNaturals estriol and progesterone are to be used together on the face? The website says to use progesterone, on 3 wks/off one wk, with every day estriol. Is that what is working for everyone who is using it?
Is this just a local effect on the skin, since Im reading here that these products are not absorbed systemically? thx |

Are you menopausal? Get your blood tested and take hormones to balance your health. I use progesterone cream on my inner thighs, inner arms and butt on different days for two weeks, then two weeks with estradiol patch only. That is for menopause.
The estriol cream is for the face and unrelated. My gyno used the cream all over her face but got a red and itchy reaction from using it around her eyes. She now just uses it on her face and neck. I use it around my eyes with no problem. |

I'm menopausal. I use the estriol patch every day and am supposed to use the progesterone (pill) every day, but have to take a week off once per month because I am having "periods"..heavy bleeding that goes away when I go of of the progesterone for the one week. Even though my estrogen was very low we think I may not have been as menopausal as we thought. If I don't have the pact hon I have night sweats, am very temperamental, etc.
As far as the cream goes, I use the estrogen on my face first and then put the progesterone cream over top of it. I haven't had any problems from the additional estriol or progesterone yet. |

In terms of the effects of placing on the skin: Anything that is on skin will be absorbed to some degree. Estriol and progesterone are to be placed on areas of thin skin so that the absorption can take place easier. Yes they are absorbed.
I don't think the intent of these products is as "skincare" per se. What is happening is what is built into the product as systemic effect is being used topically as well. IE: to help skin appear younger, softer, tighter.
