Hi everybody! Basically my story is about how stupid I am (no need to reiterate it, trust me, I know!). A few months ago I was completely fed up with a flat mole on my face and (stupidly) burned it off using the apple cider vinegar method. Ya, it worked, however I have a stubborn red mark on my face that just won't seem to go away. Once again, no need to reiterate, I feel so stupid that I did it now that I look back.

I have tried zinc oxide, vitamin C (recently), Retin-A (which I use anyway). I continue to vehemently apply sunscreen. The scar gets much worse/better depending on the time of day. If I use the sauna it looks like Satan himself charred the spot. Although, if I am inactive it occasionally goes down to about half redness. I am confused as to whether this is a good thing long run (because it's maybe is still healing... is that possible?); OR, its already been 4 months and it STILL isn't gone?
Basically, what options do I have to fade this mark? I'd prefer to try some topicals first, but I am open to dermatological options.
I was reading about Melaquin on RealSelf. One doctor recommended it for a scar. It has hydroquinone (would this work?), vit c, licorice extract, and a few other things. Would that be effective? Maybe IPL, lasers, fraxel?
Sorry for all the questions but I am desperate at this point. My skin, otherwise, is pretty close to flawless (after years of Retin-A + BHA + Vitamin C) so this mark, although not enormous, sticks out like a sore thumb. Thank you so much for any help! |

It will probably take quite a while for the redness to go completely away. Acne spots can take as long as a year or more to go away on my fair skin.
My favorite topical for similar red areas like pimples, etc. is tamanu oil....it is very high in anti inflammatories, and can help it heal far more quickly. There is some clinical info available online. |

| Btw, I would not be putting Retin A on it...that will only increase the inflammation. Stick with the sunscreen though. |

| you could try using maderma, it took out redness from my scar... I dont see any hyper pigmentation but just redness most likely due to increased dilated blood capillaries, there is also a laser for it... |

Scars are such a pain to get rid of, I have quite a few. What about silicone gel or sheets? They work by keeping the scar moisturized and it's supposed to keep the skin fibers aligned to heal properly (or something like that I forget how it was explained). They work best for new scars. Since your scar is still kinda new, I wouldn't use anything too harsh, it can interfere with the healing process.

You apply apple cider viniger onto a mole and it will eventually form a scab and fall off. There are all sorts of home remedies like this for mole removal.
I actually, out of curiosity, wanted to see if it was for real and not an exaggerated claim, and since I read somewhere that these natural methods are best and don't leave scars I decided to test it on a small mole on my leg...which of coure led to a scar (what a lie that was). I wasn't as knowledgable about skin then, maybe if I took care of it better it might've healed properly. But I don't recommend this method. |

| Helichrysum italicum essential oil from Corsica works very good on scars. It is expensive but you don't need a lot of it. It can be applied straight or diluted in Rosehip Seed oil. |

| Have you thought about using a scar treatment? Perhaps something like Dermefface FX7 may offer some improvements. |
