Does anyone have an opinion on retinyl palmitate being used in a cleanser?
I have the Peter Thomas Roth gentle foaming cleanser - i like it because it's soap / sulphate / alcohol / fragrance free, but it also contains retinyl palmitate (vit A), along with vit C and E. I have very sensitive skin (also dealing with some thinness and redness) and already use a BHA lotion and retinoid (the latter maybe only once or twice a week), and i'm only wanting a mild harmless cleanser. Could retinyl palmitate in a cleanser have negative effects on sensitive, and in places thin and red skin? If i'm using the other actives do i want to be using a cleanser that has retinyl palmitate or should i avoid?
Thanks ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I think its overkill for your skin when you are already using a BHA and a retinol product. (Maybe this is why your skin is sensitive???)
You would be wasting your money on this cleanser because it doesn't stay on the skin long enough to do anything. Always begin with a gentle cleanser and let your other products do their jobs. I think you will find for your overly sensitive skin that by using a gentle cleanser, you'll feel a huge difference. |

Exactly what Susie said. You don't need to worry about it because cleansers don't have a long enough contact time. The only ingredients in a cleanser that actually affect your skin are strong surfactants (boo) and actives that absorb very, very fast (yay.) |
