Separate forum/sticky for reps

After all the kerfuffle about reps, how about they have a forum or sticky of their own to answer questions, that way no one gets annoyed about them possibly promoting their own products, but we still have their expertise?

If this idea stinks, I'm sorry, I'll just crawl back under my rock Smile

Sounds like a great idea guapagirl, but will any reps dare come back. By the sounds of it Ian S. is well cheesed off.

Well maybe if the mods decide a sticky is a good idea, then he could be invited back. It would be a real shame if he totally legged it. I sometimes took issue with him, but he was always sweet about it and took on board anything said.

OK. I have to ask, what in the world is a "sticky"? Eh?

Well, I know what one is in the US, but for some reason, I think we're talking about 2 totally different things!
BTW - Just for the record, I personally have nothing against Ian being on this forum - I don't even know who he is! Question

sticky...like at the top of skincare forum 'beauty secrets' and 'skintype please' threads ...they stay at the top. What did you think I meant?

Ultimately this is for Magda to decide. I have given this some thought and I have to say that my personal opinion is that the segregation would not really solve much and would also not be very good in general (not to mention that it would not be pleasant to moderate in the event that posts showed up elsewhere). Topics come up in threads on the skincare and product reviews forum where we actually discuss these products. Reps and distributors will post responses to these threads anyway - if there is a question there or someone makes a comment about not knowing how to use something then what do you expect them to do? My other concern is that a special part of the forum for disrtibutors/reps is an invite for spam. I also do not want to alienate any of the reps that have become established and valued members of this forum - they do give a lot of quality input and I think it would be a mistake to do something to make them feel unwelcome on the other parts of the forum where they have in the past contributed knowledge that was not necessarily just about their product.

Apart from JB reps, are there any others around at the moment?

When I first joined the forum, I though this *was* an AlphaDerma forum. I was really confused cos at the time you couldn't even buy it from here Laughing

Anyway, I think that most of the technical/specific questions are mainly to do with JB products...Maybe we should just have a sticky AlphaDerma thread instead? Or maybe an AlphaDerma 101 like the Vit C 101 thread? Winnie, how do fancy writing a short novel? Laughing

I second Mabsy and I voted "no".

As long as everyone obeys posting guidelines they should be more then welcomed to be active in any forum.
and frankly, there are not many reps hanging around here (yet) so separate forum would be really quiet. Sad

Hopefully that will change with time and more reps will realize how strong are your voices.

Somehow I don't think thats what Guapa means. I can see the sense in what she is saying but I can see it leading to confusion as well. I am already confused. I thought it was a good idea but now I have read the replies against it I am not sure. Oh how I like an uncomplicated life.
However I do think it will be a shame if Ian feels unwelcome here now as I think the majority like to hear from him. I don't think he always comes across the right way but then who does and it is his passion for his stuff that makes him who he is. We all say the wrong thing sometimes and piss people off. But basically Ian is a generous guy and I hope he does come back.
On this subject I miss Judy and all her wisdom.

My idea was for it to be so Ian, Judy and others could respond to specific queries about their products. You my be a JB rep, but you are also a consumer of other skin stuff, so you wouldn't have to sit in the corner by yourself! If that is how a sticky thread would have to work then fair enough, it's a bad idea. I take on what Mabsy and Magda say about spam as well. I guess it won't work Sad
