In my never-ending quest to try every lip balm or topical lip plumper on the market, which – as you know – has been well-chronicled on these pages Wink , I’ve found yet another new lip product I want to try: Gatineau Electelle Beautifying LipCare...right now this Gatineau stuff is running neck-and-neck with the brand new ‘state-of-the-art’ Lip Fusion lip plumper (click here for details: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml;jsessionid=DLBHHDZ4MGOOVLAUCLCBXCQ?id=P91112&categoryId=) on my list of items to buy/try next.

The Gatineau LipCare is particularly intriguing to me in light of the raves on MUA (granted, only four people have reviewed it, but still...http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemID=30750/Electelle_Beautifying_Lip_Care/Gatineau_/Lip_Treatments/ ). Naturally I am wondering if any of my EDS lady friends have tried the Gatineau and can offer any feedback to me before I take the plunge or am I going to be the guinea-pig? Lemme know soon, as I’m heading to my beauty boutique and then on to Sephora when I get off from work this afternoon!

TIA,
Carrie

Carrie,

I have tried most of the Gatineau range over the past 5 years, I never stick with it, but always go back to it. The Gatineau on EDS is VERY overpriced compared to the UK. And that usually takes some beating. Two sites in particular in the UK sell Gatineau apart from QVC (QVC USA dont sell it). www.beautyexpert.com andwww.thebeautyroom.com. the guy who runs The Beauty Room is the founder of Gatineau UK. Not sure if they ship to the US. Now back to the product. It is a really nice texture, a bit gloopy, lovely colour, puts a nice shimmer on the lips, and I always say, if I put a thick layer on at bedtime, my lips feel like someone elses in the morning. As for plumping the lips, I dont think I even noticed a difference. Is it worth the money - not on this site. Its a lip product just the same any one elses at the end of the day. I think its a nice product, but I wouldnt recommend it to someone looking for fuller lips. Ive tried Gale Hyaman too and thats supposed to plump lips - maybe its just my lips, they dont like to be plumped, except from a smack in the mouth.... Laughing Check out ebay, if no one in the US has it, there is always pages of Gatineau on the UK site and Im sure someone will ship internationally. good luck - let me know what you decide.

Yes, Lianne, I got the Jurlique Lip Balm a couple weeks ago and am quite happy with it. But that doesn’t mean I can’t broaden my horizons and try new things, right?! Just because I’ve found an ‘holy grail’ product it doesn’t mean that I won’t find an holier grail just around the corner! Wink

Thanks, Cindi, for your input. I ended up ordering the Gatineau fromwww.FragranceNet.com for $36USD – hopefully I’ll receive my order by the weekend....I’m sure it will also come as no surprise that I caved in and bought the Lip Fusion plumper yesterday, too – I’m obsessed with keeping my kisser in tip-top shape and I have no will power! Very Happy Fortunately, the Lip Fusion only ended up costing me about $6USD, as I exchanged a dud product for it at Sephora.... I was skeptical, but I could actually feel the Lip Fusion working within minutes of application. And it wasn’t one of those horrible burning sensations, either – my lips just felt like they were swelling slightly. The clear gloss of the Lip Fusion is amazing, too. It absolutely stays on forever! I’ve never used a traditional lip gloss with this kind of staying power before. They ought to take their formula and make colored glosses with it! The Lip Fusion also has a really pleasant orange/vanilla scent and taste. All in all, Lip Fusion is way better than CityLips! Anyway...once I receive my Gatineau, I’ll be sure to post a product review.

I absolutely love Gatineau Gatineau Electelle Beautifying Lip Care. I use it every night on my lips when I get into bed! I put a think layer on and when I wake up int he morning I have beautful soft, plump lips...I'd never use anything else. I buy mine off Ebay...got my last one for £8.14.

I'm with Cindi on this one quite nice but nothing to rave about I also apply it at night and have not had any noticeable difference. To be honest 8 hour cream lipsticks keep my lips in better condition

Thanks, Suzanne – if I hadn’t already been sold on it before, your input would have put me over the edge!! Now I can hardly wait to get the darn stuff! One other thing: does the tube last for a good while, or will I need to repurchase every month or so? I saw a really good price on Ebay from sellers in the UK, so if/when I reorder, I'll probably go that route but I was really anxious to get it SOON and I didn't want to wait the possible extra amount of time for an international delivery....

Hi Carrie,

I've had mine since beginning of November and it isnt running low yet....I'd say I buy one every 5 or 6 months. I get quite a bit from Ebay, sometimes the prices can be excellent.

I find now also my lipsticks don't bleed that much! God thats a sure sign of aging isnt it!! Rolling Eyes
