I am trying to find a good place in New York City to bring a 15 year old to get a make-up lesson and learn the correct way to use make-up. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help. |

Hi,
I would try Bobbie Brown. Her make-up line is very natural and she does not advise piling on tons of layers. I believe she even wrote a book about teen skin care and make-up. I'm sure all of the major NY department stores carry her cosmetic and skin care lines. I'm not sure how you would actually get a consultation with her, but her specialists are well trained. Hope this helps. Joani |

Hi again, I spelled her name wrong, no "e". Here is her website link and below is about her teen makeup book.

whatever you do avoid mac!! I always tell them subtle and they put bright funky colours on me...then I need to go home and scrub right away!
Here a lot of the spas do makeup application lessons...She'd probably benefit from that because they'll give her tips on skincare too! |

I love Trish McEvoy. She has great shades that are very easy to use. I have found a great SA who has taught me many new application techniques. I think no matter which brand you choose, it is important to find a SA that you and your daughter feel comfortable with. Also, look for a SA who wears makeup the way you like it. Chances are if you choose a SA with 2 tons of cosmetics on her face, her definition of natural looking won't be the same as yours!!
