Hi all!
I was just browsing thru differnt products for acne and I came across TEA TREE OIL wich is supposed to be good at clearing spots & breakouts.
Has anyone tried it and does it actually work?
Thanks!

For my acne, tea tree oil works better than BP. |

I sometimes put a bit of tea tree oil on spots. It's quite good at calming down the redness and helping the healing process but it does have a tendency to dry out the skin around the spot if you use too much. |

Thanks for your posts!
Seems like it would be handy to have the TTO

I carry a tea tree stick in my purse and it helps but works better for me is jojoba oil, not sure why but it helps clear my pores MORE than tea tree. |

I'm the odd one out...I don't notice any difference from tea tree oil. I actually think it makes my breakouts worse at times. |

Lianne,
Does it mean that it brings all the gunk to the surface or creates new spots?

I used a toner with TTO before but didnt notice any result, maybe I should try a different product with TTO to see the result. |

tea tree oil in its natural state (i.e. oil not an ingredient added to cleansers, toners etc.) is great I find for the occassional break out and also great if a cold sore appears. I carry a small bottle with me everywhere when travelling and a few drops on your hair deters many flying insects and head lice (my friends with kids tell me!) |

i have had some good results with tea tree oil in the past- dabbing pure oil on spos dries them out overnight so they go away- must start using it again for occasionaly blemish.
hope it works for you Aga, good luck

I usually do not suffer from acne, but lately been having random acne spots appear. I bought 10% BP and I think it's 2% salicyic acid which I alternate using. I have not seen any wonderful benefits from either of these. I have heard many good things from users about tea tree oil for acne(as well as for hair), that if acne becomes an issue for me - that's definitely going to be my next purchase |

I read somewhere that tea tree oil eliminated blemishes quickly as well.
I tried it once and was amazed the pimple on my chin was gone when I work up the next morning.
A month or so later, I tried it on a spot on my forehead. It turned a dark brown and I still have what looks like a discolored chicken pox like scar!
Only after both of these uses did I read the back of the bottle of "100%pure Australian Tea Tree Oil" "DO NOT use full strength on face." |

Hey Deacon,
Does it mean that the TTO needs to be diluted with water before you use it?
Would products with added TTO be better than using pure TTO?

I wish I knew the answer! My bottle doesn't offer any suggestions. I am not sure what you would add it to though. If you add it to a cleanser, you would have little effect as you'd rinse it off. I am not sure it makes sense to add it to a moisturizer when trying to elimintate a pimple????
Maybe it does mean to dilute with water.....
Anyone tried this? |

maybe add a little to water or good quality carrier oil (so as not to block skin) and try. i think when i used it was maybe not full strength in the bottle, as i just used it straight from there. you could look for a milder formulation, that says sutiable for face. but i think someone said before, the oil alone is best for blemishes, not in another product.
hope this helps someone.
take care guys
