Sooo, I just had a baby this past year and let my skincare go by the wayside. About a month or so ago I decided to get back on the wagon. While rummaging through my bathroom, I found a whole packet of ultrafine Vit C ordered for a DIY serum I never got around to doing. So I started mixing some of that with water and coating my face with it every night for the last month or so (easy and maybe effective, so I thought. Last night I really slathered it on. I also picked up the habit of dry brushing my face every other night for the last month or so.
This morning I took a critical look at my skin and was SHOCKED at how bad it looks. My pores are giant, the skin around my eyes is "weak looking" and lined, my NL lines are obvious (! they were gone for a while from massage and exercising!)...everything just looks overall badddd, especially for someone who eats well, doesn't have any vices, uses only high quality skin products and hasn't hit 35 yet.
I put some camellia and rosehip oil on and now I have a couple pimples and a bit of dermatitis to add to the mix.
Did I destroy my skin with this liberal Vit C assault+dry brushing?? Is this possible? I'm not really sure how to bounce back here. I have been drinking plenty of water....anyone have any suggestions? |

Sounds like you just overdid it. Your skin may also be dehydrated. Rosehip is a pretty heavy oil and can clog pores. If you have any lighter oils, apply them to damp skin, keep using sunscreen, switch to using the vitamin C only every other day at a mix of about 10%. Give it some time.
You mention that you recently had a baby (congrats!), but you may be missing out on sleep which can also impact how your skin looks.
One last thought would be to find a good barrier repair cream. If you are acne prone you'll have to investigate to find one right for you. search EDS for "barrier repair" - you should find some suggestions. |

Yeah, my little guy is now sleeping until 5 or 6, but I still don't sleep well-- been too long without interruption!
I am thinking about getting my hands on Epionce barrier repair cream. I'm just wondering if the strong, topical Vit C is capable of doing this? Or was it the dry brushing? I thought I was getting some nice exfoliation for a while there with it. Trying to figure out what to do now to repair and rejuvenate and what not to do in the future, too.
Maybe LED? |

I think it was the 2 things together. |
