Hi I'm a newbie. Just diagnosed with scalp psoriasis and I'm losing my hair. has anyone else experienced this with psoriasis and did your hair grow back? I'm very distressed about this as I have always had beautiful, healthy hair. This problem all started 3.5 months ago when I reacted to a drug store hair colour!!! I'm almost 50 and have coloured my hair with all kinds of products.....mostly from salon but frequently store bought. I have never ever had any issues until now. Any information is welcomed! Thanks for listening. |

So I am not sure about the condition you have, but I also reacted to some sort of hair product which I suspect was drug store box hair color. For months my head was covered in sores and scabs and no matter what I did it just seemed to get worse! Not only was it very uncomfortable it was very flaky and awful. What I did to fix it was first get rid of all my products and go all natural on my hair (for a while to it cleared) I read something on the internet that suggested teatree oil or coconut oil. Well I decided to combine the two. So one day I mixed up a potion of the two, applied it all over my scalp, rubbed it in really good, and threw on a shower cap and left it on my scalp all day long. That night I washed my hair with baby shampoo and repeated the process the next day. From there I used coconut oil as my hair moisturizer and styling product, and low and behold within a very short period, a matter of days actually, it started to completely clear up. That was 6 months ago, it has never come back! I continue to use the coconut oil and gentle shampoo. Oh, and to add, I also used a bottle of apple cider vinegar and water as a spritzer on my scalp after shampooing and before conditioner. I did this throughout the time I was treating my head. I would leave it on for a few minutes. It worked for me, hope it helps for you. |

Oh and just to add... something that apparently that is really good for psoriasis is borage oil. My boyfriend gets some plaque psoriasis on his elbows and taking it orally, as well as applying topically really helps clear him up. I have taken it for my skin, but not this particular problem. Probably would not hurt to rub it on your head to see it it helps at all. It is great for you skin and Lorna Vanderhauge (not sure of spelling) but she has a great line of products that include Borage oil. |
