Japanese sunscreens seem to be very popular these days. Which ones are you using and what do you think of them?
I recently got Biore Sarasara Uv Aqua Rich Waterly Essence Sunscreen 50g Spf50+ Pa+++ for Face and Body which I'm liking. Very light on the skin, no greasiness or whiteness. I've not tried it in heavy sun yet. It is a small container, 50g, which is 1.67 oz.

Ratzilla does the best rundown of Japanese skincare and makeup on her blog

Ive tried some of them and I ordered the same one last week that you use Shasta! Have not rec'd it yet but it does sound promising for my usually normal/but oily in summer skin.
Kose Allie Mineral Moist is fine for winter because it has a lot of moisturizers but in summer humidity it really feels clammy on my skin. Searching for the perfect watery but hardworking SS that doesnt dry my skin, doesnt make it a greasepit and is completely invisible!
My skin really has been a lot more calm and clear since I use an Asian oil cleanser followed by an Asian foaming cleanser to take off all the sunscreen. Some of them can be pretty tenacious. Ratzilla has a guide how to remove them:

I've tried a few in the past, I wasn't a fan of all the alcohol in them which many of them seem to use. I did recently find one that's alcohol free, it's called Hada Labo UV Whitening Emulsion SPF50+ PA++++. I like it so far, it's inexpensive so I'd recommend giving it a try. |

For those that may want more info on the PA rating system used for Japanese sunscreens, here is a good summary:
http://www.ratzillacosme.com/category/sun/
In short:
PA+ strong protection, PPD 2-4
PA++ very strong protection PPD 4-8
PA+++ the strongest protection, PPD 8-16
PA++++ newly added in 2013, PPD >16
Persistent Pigment Darkening (PPD) method is a method of measuring UVA protection, similar to the SPF method of measuring UVB light protection.
I've only been looking at those with at least PA+++, but my next purchase will be a PA++++ once I decide which one. |
