I'm looking for a sunscreen that has great coverage at least spf 30 or above that is in powdered form with minimal ingredients as my skin is on the sensitive side which can actually be powdered on OVER make-up as I wear make-up on a daily basis. Please give me recommendations, would appreciate very much! It's important to me that it doesn't contain fragrance/perfume. If there is another sunscreen that can be placed over makeup that is in a spray form, I could consider it so please let me know of those sunscreens as well. |

I've used a couple of the Colorscience powder products in the past. The orb and another one that was like a stick (can't remember the name). Oh and Bare Minerals as well. They are ok and have a couple of drawbacks.
1) It's really hard to get enough SPF coverage with a powder.
2) Don't inhale the zinc particles. Best to hold your breathe when you apply.
3) I found it really tough to find a good match for my skin.
I didn't notice any scent from the ones I tried. I too don't like scented products. |

I don't think powder sunscreens are really reliable. You would need to apply alot to get the proper coverage. |

Jane Iredale has Powder Me. With tint or without. I use it on top of makeup but also have on SPF day cream. It is nice on kid's ears and back of neck. |

I like the Make Keep Spray - http://www.ratzillacosme.com/sun/shigaisen-yoho-make-keep-uv-spray-4/
No alcohol, paraben or fragrances and can apply over makeup and top off throughout the day. Can buy on Rakuten.
I prefer Zinc Oxide sunscreens but another good one for the face with good chemical ingredients is by Parasola - http://www.ratzillacosme.com/reviews/best-pick-parasola-essence-uv-cut-spray-ex/. Can buy at Sasa and maybe on Rakuten.
Ever since I started using spray sunscreens, I haven't touched my powder ones. |

I use physician's formula from walmart. 30 spf mineral powder. It is all that I apply to my face in the summer after vitamin C. I went to a water park with my kids and stayed in direct bright sunlight for 5 hours straight in the South Louisiana sun. I skipped a little part at the bottom of my neck. The next day my face was white, not the slightest tan or pigmentation, but my neck was beet red and burning. I think it did it's job and I reapplied only once. |

Oh, wow!! I hardly ever post and just noticed that it's my 8th year anniversary for joining this board!!
This obsession got me through a heck of a lot of abuse and suffering during the years of and after my divorce.
Peace!! |

i really wouldn't think that you would get the protection you need from a powder. on the upside, it would be a lot easier to re-apply than liquid sunscreen. |

I agree with anomaly. Physician's Formula is absolutely AMAZING for a drug store brand, and I always end up going back to it when I run out of more expensive brands that didn't perform well. (I've tried pretty much everything too!)
Btw anomaly, I'm sorry life sucked for a while and I'm glad it doesn't now. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

I also use colorescience. It was recommended by my dermatologist. I have fair Asian skin and so my freckles will brown. Do far so good although it's a little pricy? |

I plan to buy Colorescience powder to use as touch ups when I don't have time to smear cream/liquid sun protection.
I had it once a few years back and I was happy with it. |

BareMinerals has an SPF 30 sunscreen powder brush...it's more expensive than Physician's Formula but much less than Colorescience. It never gets cakey, no matter how often you reapply it. |

I am very confused! I have been being told that sunscreen in powder form doesn't help at all, is that true? But I found the liquid form too heavy too wear for a day |

To play safe, I would consider applying some light liquid sunscreen before foundation, and powder sunscreen on top is better. As for powder sunscreen, I use colorescience. It doesn't clog pores, stay put. |
