Hi, this is my first post here.
About a month ago, I got a really big zit on my cheek, on the “corner bone” it was there a few days then it got a white pus bit in the center. Usually, I am pretty good at not popping my pimples, but I am very fair skinned and it was just so red and obvious, I felt like I had to!
I steamed it for a minute with a hot washcloth and used one of those black head removers, the metal thing with the loops on either end to pop it. Oh, I wish I hadn’t! its been a month and not only is the area still red there is a tiny white bump. The white bump seems to be skin, it is raised with a tiny dark divot in the center. I am afraid that it is a scar, since it has been here so long.
I am 20 years old, very fair, sensitive skin that is slightly dry. I have lactic and glycolic peels and a .5mm dermaroller. Would any of these things work to get rid of it?! Massage? I have pretty good skin otherwise and this is pretty obvious. Usually the marks left over from zits, popped or just left to naturally go away are level with my skin and a pink color which fades with time and sunblock use.
Please help, thank you for any answers. |

Please anyone? How do you know when something has become a permanent scar and is not just still healing? |

From the sound of it...I think this is what happend:
I think when you popped it, the bacteria didn't all come out...I think you got most of the wet bacteria out but there shouldve been a tiny hard little ball of bacteria that makes its way out after the pusy stuff..
So the skin sealed the open wound and the black dot in the middle is probably the bacteria touching the oxygen kinda like a black head or a very tiny scab.
In order for it to go away,
(keep in mind this maaaay do more harm than good but it works for getting rid of the bump and making it one of those flat scars)
You want to lightly and gently take your washed finger nails..and kinda do a scraping motion towards the out part of the redness.
Hopefully itll flake and you can grab it..the goal here is to remove the loose skin over the center spot, then you want to gently squeeze that white ball out,
Itll be deeper than youre expecting it to be,
and blood may come up before but if you want it out than keep applying pressure
Apply pressure downwards on the outer edges and go along a 360 kind of motion so no one area gets too much pressure
Stop if you start breaking any capillaries or its been more than 3ish mins...
That may work if it is what I think it is, then again you could leave it alone and keep hydrating it and applying soothing ingredients to calm it down.
You may also be able to try a lancet to insert a hole in the pimple and then squeeze it...but never "stab" in the middle of the pimple...more to the side of the white bump,(it can damage the follicle).
Admittedly I am a zit popper haha...I mean I get a looooot of little millia and I cant help myself sometimes...they key for me..is to get all the bacteria out at once ALLLL of it and then sealing it off, gently cleaning it, and keeping it hydrated with Vaseline type products...and when its healed I exfoliate the scar or red mark thats left.
But that being said I have dealt with what youre describing...itll take a couple more weeks to go away if you leave it be, but personally if the bacteria didn't come out the fist time I like to follow the instructions I gave you to remove that bit more of bacteria.
Though I can't recommend popping zits, I do so to myself about 85% of the time...with no marks or infection.
Hope this helps you haha |

I tried the first method you suggested. The bacteria being still stuck inside made sense to me. turns out there was more pus, that was the white stuff, I could swear it was skin it was so hard. There is still a bit of white left, but I'll wait for it to calm down again. I am afraid of getting broken capillaries, because I am prone to them. I feel relieved that it is not skin though, and just like a veryyyy mild infection or something. Thank you! |

I know because when I was younger I did the same thing all the frekin time....took forever for the acne/mark to go away!...until I realized I had to get all the bacteria out.
But yeah youre welcome
And keep in mind, that itll probably turn into a red mark after this. But you can apply chemical exfoliates and it should lighten up. |

Good news, it's completely flat now, pink but flat, which is an improvement. Yes,I usually get purple/red marks after pimples.I know that they will go away eventually with daily sunblock and monthly or so lactic acid peels.Thank you! |
