Hey,

I have light blonde lashes and I've been using a couple of lash serums in the past.
Many of them promise to "darken" lashes. I just wanted to know what the best serum for darkening is.
Of course I tint my lashes but roots show up quickly and some darker growth would make it look more okay and give me a more natural feeling than mascara.

I've tried latisse, didn't have any effects after 10 weeks but I had to quit because the eye redness was very bad.

I've also tried talika lipocils but I think it's haox. I know the coleus forskohlii in it promises to darken lashes but I think the amount used it too small. I contacted the company but all they had to say, was: we're really sorry this isn't working for you. When asking them how much of the coleus they had used, they said: we cannot tell you, it's patented.

I dont think any serums darken lashes. You may consider tinting them. Many of us here use 1000 hour last tint.

I second the lash tinting. I do my own eye brows but DIY lash tinting is more difficult. I go to a spa and pay $20.00 (includes HST) plus tip. It lasts about 4 - 6 weeks.

I've been tinting for years, just opened the topic because I wanna stop tinting them, when they're naturally bright yellow, any color difference shows quickly.

I thought some serums increased the amount of melanin because of the prostaglandins?

Maybe a DYI with forskolin could help. The molecular mass is 410,5 g/mol and the substance has been proven to increase melanin.

Girliegirl's right.....there isn't an eyelash serum that both promotes growth and darkens at the same time.

I think you should proceed with great caution if you're considering using forskolin topically on your lashline. It would probably darken the skin all along your lashline which you may not like at all. Be sure to check pubmed for recent studies using it topically.

I have very white, blonde lashes so I do understand but I just stick to my favorite mascara to keep them nice and darkened during the day.

thanks, I used the talika lipocils before, they said it contained forskolin but when I contacted the company they couldnt tell me how much it actually contained. It's probably not sufficient as it's just one of those many ingredients it contains. I understand your concern regarding the skin darkening but the thing is to "try" it on a small area, to use it carefully and to have the right penetration agents. If anyone can help me with a DIY formula, it would be very nice.

I have used a DYI eyelash and eyebrow serum and after eight weeks some of my eyebrows ( not yet my lashes) grow in darker.

The formula I've used is 5 pct acetyl hexapeptide 1, 5 pct dimethyl isosorbide and 90 pct water.

It show that it works, but maybe a combo with forskolin and better penetration would do a better job. So any tips are welcome.

I have a pic of an eyebrow hair having darkened and then another one not having darkened yet:
