I have tried variou different primers because supposedly my make up will last longer everyone and everytime I try I use a pea sized amount leave it for 15-20 mins but when I apply my foundation it all just balls up on my skin to the point I can literally pick it off in clumps...is it my skin?? I don't know what the idea behind it is just makes my makeup look awful to the point I have to remove it all and start again minus primer |

What else are you using for skin care/sunscreen?
I really don't have any answers for you. I do know that sunscreen CAN ball up with or without moisturizer. I got a sample of one of the LRP SS and it balled up terribly. (IIRC it was a light one with spf 60.)
Have you tried just one primer? I am curious on which one you are using. |

I really like the Smashbox lid primer and have repurchased. I do have oily lids.
I do have another use for this primer. I apply on spots of redness (ie: around nose) then I apply my mineral foundation with a concealer brush to conceal. The two work well together.
I have not found a traditional primer that works well for me. I am very clog prone and most contain silicones.
Can you modify your skin care routine?
Years ago I used this product from Skin Biology to help control oil. It is available at EDS for a reasonable cost. This is a very lightweight serum that can be applied under moisturizer or sunscreen.

I also find certain sunscreens work better than others. I currently have PC Resist tinted spf 30. This contains zinc oxide and is better suited for normal - oily skin.
Here is my review and more information.

Many of Japanese sunscreens would work well for oily skin. |

I always gently pat my face and eye lids with a dry towel before I start with my makeup. It absorbs any lingering products and my makeup stays fresher longer. It gives a nice 'canvas' for my makeup.
Personally, I don't have much luck with primers (except one which was discontinued), but this tip might help a little. |

I bought Smashbox two years ago. But I had the same issue like yours. Though everyone says it is a must have item, it doesn't fit all skin types.I guess u need to try a few more brands to look for the perfect one. |

could held maybe using a sponge to press your foundation into your skin rather than swirling it to make it ball up? im having problems with mine atm but im testing out some new makeup and i think my sunscreen might be the culprit. Also maybe you arent adhering the primer to the skin enough too? Maybe try press it in the areas you need most then a little bit on the rest of your face and once its patted in well gently massage it in slightly so it really adheres. That's all i can think of though. |
