| I know Retinol is weaker than Retin A but does it have the properties to help produce more collagen than the Retin A? I really am considering using either one on my undereyes and forehead fine lines. But i dont want to use something that in the longterm is just only thinning those areas out. |

No, retinol would never "produce more collagen than retin-A." If you're looking for something less potentially irritating than tretinoin but still very effective, then look at a retinaldehyde.
Avene makes several. My current favorite is Retrinal .05% (Retrinal comes in 3 strengths, so it's very versatile as well.) EDS doesn't sell it but I'm sure you can find a Canadian etailer, if you're interested. |

Sorry i think i said it wrong i didnt mean more collagen i mean as much collagen but i know its not as strong as retin a so it would take more time and would be more a preventative measure i presume?
Thanks for the info on retinaldehyde how is it working for you? I will have to find out about that but im from the UK so not sure if it will be easy to get hold of. |

I do really well with Avene. I am in Canada so I usually buy it at the drug store.
I like the Avene Eulage for under eye area and on neck. This might be too much if you are oily. The percentage of actives are higher in the face formula than the eye formula.
Tricneal has retinaldehyde and 6% glycolic acid. |

The Avene Retrinal is not sold in Canada.
Another EDS member posted this site for sample/travel sizes.
They do ship to the UK. I have not purchased from them (yet!) but I did notice the shipping prices were reasonable for Canada and there was a huge selection of travel size products including Avene, sunscreen, etc.

Thanks they sound good do you know if i would still be able to use a BHA the paula's choice 1% lotion one if i was using one of the Avene retinaldehyde products? Im worried it could be overkill for my skin but the BHA has helped a little bit with exfoliation (cant exfoliate manually) and ive also been using the 5% glycolic treatment from her line too which really helps my bumpy skin texture.
But obviously i want something anti aging hence me looking into the retinals. Just i dont know how i would arrange my skin care routine. Retinals probably a few times a week? But ive always needed the BHA twice a week at least and usually the glycolic once or twice aswell. But im guessing the Retinaldehyde would help with exfoliating on its own.
Feel a bit overwhelmed and im going to be a bridesmaid in about 4 months so i dont want to end up ruining my skin more. May email paula's choice and ask them for some advice. |

The retinaldehyde does help with exfoliating and works differently than the BHA.
I have sensitive skin but I am able to tolerate PC BHA 2%. I use the Avene only at night.
Sometimes I alternate but I have used PC 2% Clear Regular BHA first; after a few minutes apply Avene Triacneal. I do not notice any increased sensitivity or redness.
I also have PC Once weekly AHA treatment. While I like it, I prefer to use the Avene Triacneal. I also had the PC AHA gel 8% and it works well also and is a lower price point than her newer AHAs. |

| I guess the retinaldehyde would act a bit like the AHA treatment then so maybe i could still use the BHA but drop the AHA? My skin is quite sensitive so i dont want to be using all three i dont think. |
