Has anyone tried a waterproof mascara and actually had it stay put!??? I get smudges under my eyes from most mascaras, including the waterproof.

I've tried:
almay
loreal
revlon
MAC
Perscriptives

The perscriptives was the best for not smudging, but it clumped.

Did you try the L'Oreal Featherlash Water Resistant. I can't get it off with soap and water! That's not to say that it doesn't flake when I start rubbing on it but it definitely does not dissolve or smudge on me.

nope, I didn't try that one...oh crap, maybe it was maybelline I tried last. I don't know, I'll take your suggestion and give featherlash a try. I've tried so many things that I can't remember what!!

Does the featherlash come off with regular oil free remover or do I need the oily stuff?

I've found a terrific waterproof mascara that I just can't do without "Chanel Extreme cils". It's a bit pricey ($30 Cdn) but it lasts me 3 months. I've now used in for 3+ years. While abroad I tried other cheaper and more expensive brands but none gave me the same effect as Chanel.

What I like about Chanel's waterproof mascara is that it doesn't clump. It stays on all day and doesn't smudge (not even in humid weather).

To take of the mascara, I have been using Christian Dior's cream eye make up remover ($28 Cdn?). Even though the back of the bottle does not say that the product removes waterproof mascara, don't believe it. It certainly does. You just need to leave the lotion on your lashes for a few minutes and then gently wipe off.

Another waterproof mascara remover I've used is Christian Dior's Purifying Cleansing cream (the gelee also works but it stings a bit) ($30 Cdn). Just follow the same procedure for removal as I've written above.

I think you might like these products. I'm a picky sort when it comes to eye make-up because my lashes are thin and Chanel's mascara thickens them ever so slightly giving them a 'natural' look.

Have you tried using a primer before applying your waterproof mascara? I think the Lancome Cils Booster is awesome.

I was having problems with my lashes looking thinner. I'm now 60 years old and the lashes have gone through some changes. They are grey enough so that I have them tinted regularly. If I don't have them tinted, it's really hard to get the color to show. Grey hair just absorbs color, whether it's your lashes, brows or hair.

When Cils Booster was recommended to me, it was a wonderful solution. Immediately my lashes after applying the booster and then mascara, looked thick and longer again.

For years, I've had good luck with Mary Kay mascara. No, I DON'T sell it. Both the conditioning and the waterproof give a thick look to my lashes without "clumping". I learned a trick years ago and it probably works with any good mascara. I used to apply the conditioning mascara in dark brown first and then top it off with black waterproof. If I used only the black waterproof, it was too harsh a look for my fair skin and blonde hair.

Before I found Cils Booster, I was using L'oreal Voluminous because it's the only thing that would give me that thicker lash look. Since I've found the booster, I don't seem to need a mascara as heavy as the Voluminous. I just use it to top off the ends to get a little extra length.

I rambled a lot there, but my main point was that using the Cils Booster might help any type of waterproof mascara to perform better and stay on without smudging, not to mention giving you the look of thicker, longer lashes!

wow! So many great suggestions, I don't know that to try!!

Is the Lancome Cils booster a plumping agent like what is used in lash fantasy? Sort of a white compound?

I've never tried mary kay stuff before, I think my boyfriends sister sells it..maybe I can talk her into giving me one to try...

The chanel sounds good too, but a bit pricey for me. I just quit my job and went back to school, I'm now forced to budget Crying or Very sad

You will need the oily stuff to get the Featherlash off (unfortunately). I use jojoba to get it off or rice bran oil. Might as well get some benefit while I'm removing it,right?

The oils don't irritate the eye? That's what I'd always worried about.

I also like and use Cils booster and jojoba oil to remove, great stuff!

My suggestions are Reflect.com I designed my own mascara and made it waterproof! it stays PUT! but a bit tough to remove.

I am now testing Stephanie Marais which I don't think is suppose to be waterproof but it is a bugggger to remove! (even with oil)

My choice is still Kose visee mascara, the 1st version.. forgot the name "volume up" or something like that. No clumps no smurge until using mascara remover. The color is nice too. Surprised

I love the waterproof mascara from Shiseido; Distinguish. It's the only waterproof mascara that I've tried that does anything besides giving colour. It gives my lashes a bit of volume too, and spectacular length.

I admit to having never used it, but most of my friends use Lancome mascara and rave about it. Plus, I've seen it recommended in In Styles best 100 products for several years running . . .

I'm afraid I couldn't tell you which one, but there are a few so you'd have plenty of choice!!

I think the best one so far is from Guerlain and Estee Lauder. I have tried the Lancome primer, but for some reason, after a few application, the primer doesnt work as good as before. I am currently comparing the Guerlain and Estee Lauder's primer. I found that Estee primer is as good as Guerlain only cheaper. I think Guerlain costs 27; whereas, Estee only cost 20. But same quality too...give it a try. and I think Estee has a new mascara called Lash XL, and i tried it. It does extenuate the lashes 50% longer. I have always used the one from Guerlain, is not bad too, I am still using it haha...maybe i should get a different color like purple, since is the Fall trend. Razz

I have also tried so many different brand for eye makeup remover. I tried Biotherm (both of them), Lancome, Prescriptives, Estee, and Clinque. I have loved Prescriptives, but what I found is that it started to sting my eyes a little, sometimes, but I havent gotten into such problems with Estee. Pretty good. I had one from Biotherm, the gel one, it didnt take off that well, i still have half a bottle left. But what I found is that it works great as a eye mask. cool sensation....relieves my fatigue of the eyes.

just little tips: I use Q-tips to take away the mascara, I found that I use less of it. or You could use those cotton pad, only a few drop of the remover and kinda foam it up and leave on the eye for 30secs and wipe it off. Takes off right away. give it a try, let me if its any good to you all~

oh by the way, should the mascara be replace every 2 months or 3 months?

I also use the cils booster with the new waterproof Illusionist mascara by Estee Lauder.
Do you curl your lashes? Are they more straight out rather than up? I've found a lot of people with straight lashes have problems with the smudging. Curling helps. Illusionist is also a curling mascara. Ask for a sample next time you are near a counter. Very Happy

I do curl my lashes. I think it's just my oily skin. I've been trying to be better about putting powder under my eyes and that's helped a bit.... ugh. I'll keep trying all your guys suggestions. It's going to take years to get through all of them. I looked for the cils at the airport in duty free but they didn't have it, they had the whole line BUT the mascara Crying or Very sad

I use Double Extend - Waterproof from Loreal (which is really Lancome, anyway). One end is the base (primer) and the other end is the mascara. I love it! I've tried Voluminous in the past, but found that it smudged under my eyes.

I also have oily skin and wear contacts, but I've had no problems with Loreal's Double Extend. Not to mention it gives mad length and volume to my lashes without clumping. I've tried both the regular and waterproof and I prefer the waterproof. I've showered, swam, put in eyedrops, cried, and it stays put!

lianne I was in completely the same boat. All those wonderfully advertised waterproof mascaras, all the brands and "best of" reviews. I have tried a bunch of them to absolutley no luck. All the Lancome 'cils and expensive products. And I don't care if it was advertised that someone could swim to Baja from California while wearing it and that it would stay put, it would be smeared under my eyes in a hour.

But then awhile back I saw the reviews on MUA for Shiseido Lasting Lift mascara so I decided to give it one more try in a quality brand and to try it out. Well it works great!! I use it in brown myself and can finally join the rest of the world and wear mascara that isn't smeared under my eyes all the time. For some reason I'm not seeing waterproof on the tube as I look at it here in my hand, but I'm pretty sure it is waterproof because that is all I ever buy. It is probably on the box. And if it doesn't advertise that it is waterproof, it definitely should because it certainly is. So much so that it is a bit difficult to get off. I've finally gotten to where the Sephora waterproof eye makeup remover and a cotton pad works pretty well. If you get a chance, you should definitely take a look at the reviews on it over at MUA. www.makeupalley.com if you want further input on this mascara. I noticed someone above mentioned waterproof mascara in this same brand. I don't know if it is the same actual product or not. It could be a different line in the brand, but either way it sounds like Shiseido has good waterproof mascara.

Actually I purchased the Kiss Me Mascara a few weeks ago and I LOVE it! It stays put on my lashes all day without smudging. I'll be sticking with this one...but if I can't find it in an emergency I'll try the shiseido!

Thanks!

On here it's under Blinc. They're the company I guess. Check out the reviews for it. It's cool to take off because you pull the little tubes off your lashes. It sounds weird but it's painless and kinda funny!

Blinc. I don't think I have ever heard of that brand. Not that that means a whole lot since there are tons of lines out there. I wonder if you can get it here in the States. I'll have to check it out. I think I see what you mean by taking it off and it coming off in tubes. It sounds sort of like the mascara version of those gommage masks that you sort of roll off. Is it easy to get on? I have short eyelashes that tend to be fairly pale. Sometimes getting into the inside corners is an adventure. Confused . The results can be a bit iffy.
I'll definitely look into this brand especially since you seem to have had the same mascara problems that I have always had. Pain in the butt problem that it is. Well sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs.... Razz
