Sooo after have a quick browse of the forum (please bear with me, this is coming from a plain old soap and water user!) have I got it straight that basic everyday routine should be (for me as have lines under eyes):
AM
Wash (plain soap or a face wash?)
Cleanse (any cleanser do? i.e pharmacist own brand sufficient?)
Moisturise (can use Loreal decrease? or any moisturiser do?)
PM
Wash
Cleanse
Moisturise
Vit C and HA cream under eyes?
Facemask/exfoliate once a week, oo and should you rinse the cleanser off after removing with cotton wool before moisturising?
Am I on the right path here?!

I would put the Vit C serum and the HA all over your face...and this should go on after cleansing and before moisturuzing.
Also, you said wash and cleanse. I think this is the same
For the AM you may want to wash, then use a gentle daily exfoliant, then moisturize...then UV protection!! (If you wanted, you could use your C serum and HA in the AM. Many of us do, but it is personal preference.)
PM...cleanse and moisturize, Vit C (if you didn't do it in the morning) and you could exfoliant in the evening as opposed to doing it in the morning.
So, basically, Vit C, HA, and daily exfoliant once a day. Vit C and HA after cleansing with about 10 minutes between each product.
If your cleanser and moisturuzer are working for you, the you don't need to change them... ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Hi Zoe it's quite refreshing to come across a soap and water girl
I wouldn't change too much if it works if your routine works for you, only you don't need to wash and cleanse, just one or the other, then moisturise. I really do think that yes cosmetic products can aid us but a lot is down to genetics and we can't change that.
I while ago I was in Selfridges looking over the Dr Hauaschka ans Philiosophy and got talking to the lady behind the counter, she was in her 50s and her skin was beautiful, not a line or blemish, so I asked what she used and she too was a soap and water girl and used any moisturiser that was on offer in the supermarket!!!!
It made me realise how much money we must waste .
Zoe I warn you the more time you spend on here, the more products you will see people reviewing and think "Oh god I really really need this" I tell you I'm permanently broke from coming on this forum!!!!
It's a good job we have carekate to balance our budgets with her homemade options ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Ya really want to put C serums on a clean face or over an exfoliating serum. I think it is a bit pointless putting it on over moisturiser. You want it to soak into the skin. That said, I put mine on over my agireline/matrixyl serum, but only cos it has a slightly thicker consistancy.
...just trying to confuse the issue
rosebud is absolutely right about getting broke though! I am in my own small way keeping it more simple (and cheaper) than in the past however ![Cool](images/smiles/cool.gif) |

Yup do be careful, this forum will make your credit card go Some ppl have the genes to get away with good ol soap and water. Me, I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful about what I put on it (ok, that's just a good excuse to buy expensive things I could live without!!). But there's nothing wrong with keeping your routine simple. |

Thanks for all your help! I was always under the impression you had to wash with water and soap/facewash before using a cleaning cream.
I agree Princesita, I’ve already ordered a Vit C serum (thanks PSF!) a cream containing HA and argiline (spelling?!) HA tablets to take orally and now looking for a new moisturizer (not looking forward to credit card bill coming through this month)
Oh and I've upped my water intake now too!

My daily routine:
Morning: I use the ACV or my green tea version of toner before I put anything on in the morning. I usually use one of my vit C preps in the morning after that (I have Skinceuticals 20, Cellex C and homemade).
Midday at work: I use my samples during the day (Phyto-corrective and a moisturizer).
Night: At night I vary between using an estriol cream and other creams that I've doctored with coenzyme Q-10 and/or salicylic acid or Matrixyl (from the personal formulator). I have so many of the peptide ones that I bought but didn't work well that I just use them as bases.
I don't use creams in the morning because they leave a shiny base.
Every 10 days or so I also do a glycolic acid peel.
I am around 50 and have only one line that is like a wrinkle. I'm fighting it we'll see who wins. It used to run from my nose down to my mouth and the left side now it has a 1/2 inch gap with no fine line even! I may be winning we'll see.
I think great skin at this age comes from genes and diet. I know only one person my age who is wrinkle-free and she uses not many products the same as your salesgirl with the great skin. I suppose the rest of us just have to work at it. |

Sounds like you got everything you need! So exciting getting new products! I would say you are going to see great results! Remember to make sure to use UV protection though Maybe a moisturizer and UV in one. |

Sorry thought you were asking for people's daily routine. sounds like we're doing pretty similar things. Someone here said the vit C could be used morning or evening. The reason I do morning is because these seem to interface with makeup better than the creamy products I use at night. |

Any good ones to recommend? Or just a plain old natural alternative?!

If you want to make up your own
witch hazel for oily skins
Rosewater for dry skins
for combination just mix them together with more of one than the other for example I have oily skin so I do 70 witch hazel and 30 rose water.
Also check out carekates recipe on the homeamde recipes thread - her Apple Cider vinegar toner get some good reviews, I think it is more suited to oily skins.
I have never really bought a toner, I've used both the Dr Hauscha toners and liked both of them, but I could not really justify the money on a toner so I make my own which I prefer to the bought ones. |

Thanks Rosebud - I think our local pharmacy sells a witchhazel toner.
Jeez, better get up earlier in the morning if have to cleanse/wash, tone, serums then moisturise!
